This was a well organized program and Mary and Drew were excellent leaders. The Channel Islands are not as spectacular as most of the national parks I've visited but they are interesting nevertheless. We were plagued by an uncommon rain storm on Anacapa which led to a cold wet day tramping through thick sticky mud. Unfortunately our group was too large for one bus so half the group had to wait shivering for more than half an hour for the bus to drop off the first group and then turn around and pick up the second group. I wish time had allowed on Santa Cruz to kayak in and around the sea caves. Almost all the speakers were excellent and added a lot to the program. Hotel food ranged from pretty good to mediocre.

Don't expect to see all the birds and animals listed. I saw only one fox up fairly close and a couple schools of dolphins.

The Channel Islands were a complete surprise from the artifacts to the Island Fox to the views of the ocean and mainland but it truly is the speakers and the other participants that made it so special. Delightful! Bonnie

This is a wonderful program for nature lovers, and those interested in the culture and history of the area. It provides varied hiking experiences, excellent classes that hold your interest, along with free time to explore the area or relax on the beach. Sheila, the group leader, is very organized, always helpful, easy to relate to, and the instructors are very knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic, and for the most part very good presenters. I greatly enjoyed the entire program, including my fellow travelers, while discovering one of our lesser-visited National Parks.
