The hikes were exciting with beautiful pastoral scenery along the way, the guides were capable and helpful, the hotels were comfortable and the food was delicious.

Gloria from Jacksonville, FL Number of programs attended 6 Date attended: 5/26/14-6/9/14 Beautiful scenery, great hiking and delightful guides. Lots of history and culture, also. You should be aware that the Lake District has rugged, mountainous terrain as well as all those lakes--it is a classic glacial area. The leaders handled it very well by having two or three levels of hikes each day, so people could be as challenged as they choose to be on any particular day. Come with hiking poles, hiking boots, layered clothing and a good water-repellent top layer. This is not a climate where you can count on no rain. If you are prepared for what you are getting into, this trip will be a wonderful, wonderful experience.

We had a marvelous time with our 18 fellow travelers + the 3 guides. The scenery is beautiful & if you are lucky the weather gods will cooperate. We had only one hiking day in the rain & as long as your wore your 'waterproofs' & good hiking boots you will be most comfortable. I do suggest NOT to wear blue genes while hiking. If they get wet of muddy, they can be most uncomfortable. This trip IS listed as challenging & it was true to the description . Walking on flat terrain at home is not the same. Having 2-3 level choices daily was a treat. The food was fine, but better the second week in Scotland. I highly reccomend this tour!

This was a wonderful trip, and I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants an active, deep experience of the Lake District and the Scottish Borders. Great food, wonderful accommodations, and guides who were outstanding. One of the best trips I have ever taken!

Walking in the Lakes and Scottish Border Region was a very special way of experiencing the two regions. Somehow Road Scholar's "on the ground" approach puts you in touch with the geography and history in a way that traditional travel simply doesn't do.
