In my experience, the Barnes Foundation is unique. The collection is superb, but it is the philosophy of the founder that informs the entire program. Barnes is all about educating the eye to appreciate all forms of art, and not just painting. The in-depth study over three days will force you to look at art differently, even as you enjoy masterpieces by Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, and a huge number of other artists and crafts-people. Barnes' concept of arranging art into "ensembles" and his egalitarian approach to collecting and appreciating art were very forward thinking for his time. In all, a fascinating collection in a gorgeous new home make for a winning combination in the City of Brotherly Love. Definitely recommended for all art lovers!

Learn a lot about Impressionists and the Barnes philosophy of art appreciation by participating in the Art Lover's Dream at the Barnes Foundation. Philadelphia itself is an interesting place for discovery of American History including American Jewish History.

If you appreciate art, this is great program! It is especially enlightening about the Barnes Foundation Museum itself and its unique presentation mode.
