EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was our first tour with Road Scholar. The excellent local guides and mature, experienced lecturers lived up to our expectations. However, the large group size of 34 was a surprise. Based upon conversations with the RS office that group size was limited to 20, we had booked the tour. The Australian guide said that a group size of 25-30 was typical for this tour. We have traveled extensively using multiple other tour operators and traveling solo. The large group size diminished the overall experience due to logistics at every step. The printed material handed out at each city was very helpful and supplemented the narrative of the site coordinators. We would recommend scheduling unique walks at locations instead of emphasizing “tourist” venues. Highlights were the Sydney harbor cruise and Opera House tour/performance and the Red Center, Alice Springs bush dinner and Uluru.

Visiting Australia and experiencing the unique diversity of the country had a major impact on me, supported by an outstanding crew of leaders and educational staff.

A wonderful introduction to Australia (at least the eastern coast and the Red Center). Well organized and expertly led. It's worth the journey.

This was my first tour with Road Scholar and I loved it. I went solo and felt welcomed by all in the group. This tour provided a good overall experience of Australia and I want to go back and take other Road Scholar tours in Australia.

Because this whole program is so 'user friendly', we look forward to more Road Scholar adventures beyond the four we have experienced.

A good view of Australia from the cosmopolitan cities of Sydney and Melbourne to the Outback and then the coastal city of Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. The site coordinators and group leader exhibited enthusiasm for their country and its remarkable history. Martin Ludgate in Alice Springs and Uluru-Kata Tjuta was a walking encyclopedia of information on Aboriginal art, life style, cultural issues, animal life and fauna of Central Australia. All of the site coordinates had great informational handouts. Ngaire Douglas the group leader kept us busy with worksheets to expand our knowledge of Australian slang, unusual animals, foods, general information about the country and little known facts about what we saw. She encouraged us to reach out to others(both within our group and people we meet while touring) to answer the questions and expand our understanding of the unique citizens of Australia. I hope to return to see more of Australia.
