This was truly a wonderful, site-intensive tour to so many worthwhile places, at a good time of year when it wasn't too hot, or as crowded as it probably can be. Our main guide, Elli, was not only knowledgable, but had a fantastic ability to present the information by placing it in a historical and cultural framework, making it understandable and exciting, and stimulating us to make thoughtful connections. I will savor this experience the rest of my life!

We recently returned from a recent Road Scholar tour of Turkey and Greece and were very pleased! As this was our first Road Scholar program, it exceeded our expectations. The itinerary was well chosen and the program leader was absolutely outstanding. As this was such positive and memorable expreince, we will certainly do another Road Scholar program. Tim J.

This trip was a terrific “sampler” of Instanbul and Greece. Some of my memories: Call to Worship from the mosques in Instanbul,; Chora, Mary’s church. The strange angels painted in the four corners of the Hagia Sophia. Blue tiles in a small mosque by the spice bazaar. Dinner on Symi, its vertical yellows and pinks embracing the quiet harbor, accompanied by beautiful girls performing folk dances. Wandering through the ruins of Ephesus, populated now mostly with cats. Wonderful traveling companions who laughed and listened. And our untameable (in a GOOD way) Greek guide, who got us up just early enough every morning, shared her deep passion for art history, helped us tie the present to the past, and gave us wonderful poetry. So glad I was there.

This program was outstanding in that in 12 days you were immersed in a culture and society that enriched my understanding of the diverse world in which we live.

The advantage of a Roads Scholar program over other similar tours is found in the quality of its group leaders and other guides. One can be surprised by how much one learns. That's the value added by Roads Scholar.
