This was my eighth Roads Scholar trip and it definitely did not disappoint. There was so much information on so many varied topics that I'm still processing it all. Our tour leader Sarah Clancy was superb! She kept all the disparate parts of the tour organized and did it with such fun and humor. The whole experience was exceptional. Marge Hampton

Our guide, Maeve, was the best and I made a lot of new friends!!! Learned a little more about "the troubles" than I cared to, but definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

It's not necessary to have an Irish connection to enjoy this most informative and worthwhile adventure !!

This is an amazing tour, particularly to visit Northern Ireland (Belfast and Derry) and to learn so much about the history of the country and the issues they face. The local guides and lecturers were excellent and added to the depth of learning. The field trips (learning to dance an drum, make soda bread, visit a farm, have an evening meal with an Irish family, etc) bring back wonderful memories. The highlight was our group leader, Breda, so was so much fun and made our group bond quickly with laughs, limericks, a hurling game, and funny stories. The location and quality of the hotels, food, and transportation around the country were excellent.

This tour was a wonderful glimpse of the amazingly beautiful island that is Ireland. Our itinerary included a delightful balance of diverse historical, political, and cultural sites as well as activities sure to satisfy any and all. Local expert guides were knowledgeable, interesting, and great fun! Group leader Breda was a delight, and did an amazing job of keeping us all on track throughout a somewhat rigorous schedule, all with great good humor. Our group of fellow travelers was absolutely wonderful, the Irish people warm, friendly, and generous. This was a special trip to a special place and will forever remain a travel highlight.

This trip exceeded my expectations, and they were high, as Ireland was a country I most wanted to visit for many years. The countryside was beautiful, and the people were warmhearted and generously shared their stories and music. Our guide, Sarah Clancy, was full of history and anecdotes, bringing 5,000 years of history alive as we traveled around Ireland's coasts from north to south. I cannot imagine a better guide, full of energy and fun. At most stops were local experts, and each was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were a great group, which makes a trip that much more enjoyable.

Ireland Coast to Coast was terrific. Extremely important to experience both Ireland and Northern Ireland. Sarah Clancy was the best guide we have ever had in years of international travel. Enjoyed a wonderful group of fellow travelers. Our first Road Scholar trip but not our last.

If you want to explore and learn about ALL of Ireland..Northern and Republic of, I recommend this trip. It is a whirlwind of learning with so much to see. If possible ( it was not for me) I would recommend going on the trip then staying and renting a car for a while to have time to return to some of the places you wished you had more time to explore! Our group leader, Beibhann O' Conner, was absolutely wonderful. I have been on other Road Scholar trips with other great leaders but she was by far the best.

This is an intensive introductory/exposure fun field trip of Ireland where you eat and drink while laughing and learning romping through Ireland. A great cultural, political, historical, prehistorical, social and geomorphological introduction to the complexities and beauty that is Ireland.

The perfect tour of Ireland awaits you when you participate in Ireland's Coasts from North to South. Our tour coordinator was Beibhinn OConnor and she did an excellent job making sure we were all comfortable. Highly recommended! S Adams from Kentucky

If you want to see the Emerald Isle and have an enjoyable experience learning about it (i.e., both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland), this is definitely the way to do it! Our guide (Beibhinn O'Connor) was fantastic! She not only shepherded our group with the attention to detail that Road Scholar programs are known for, she did it with grace, humor, and warmth. The guest speakers and other experiences (e.g., a home-cooked meal with a host family one evening) were all top-notch as well.

Delightful intro to Ireland with a most sympatico group! Our guide, Stephen Delaney, was simply terrific and had us applauding each morning after a story as we headed off to a wide variety of daily activities. The tour opened my eyes to the complexity of Irish history, both the contentious connections within the country and without down through the ages. The landscapes were gorgeous and the coasts particularly inviting to me.

Our Group Lead, Stephen Delaney, is top-notch. He was extremely well organized, unflappable, and very funny.

Ireland,as introduced by Sarah Clancy, is a magical place. Its beauty delights the eye and melts the heart. For a place that is so loved by its transplanted sons and daughters and so revered by Hollywood and folk tunes, the reality truly exceeds its press. Both The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are the most heartbreakingly wonderful places replete with good food, fun experiences and welcoming people. See for yourself the magic of this jewel of a place.

If you are thinking about doing this program, just read all the reviews - and sign up quickly!!! I've just returned, and must rate this program very near the top of my 30 adventures with RS. Ireland brought out the best in all of us - friendly folks, lovely towns and villages, and unbelievable sites to photograph. We expanded our knowledge of Ireland's history - North and South. Our leader, Sarah Clancy, is a walking encyclopedia of Ireland, and a bundle of energy that is contagious. She kept us on the go so we did not miss a thing. The days spent in Northern Ireland were very moving - hearing about "The Trouble" and meeting those courageous people was a highlight of our tour. Food and hotels were lovely - and there truly is something special about the "green" of Ireland. You can't believe it until you see it!!! This program covered the entire island - and makes one want to return. Go for it!!!

I did two back to back programs in Ireland. The Best of Ireland and Northern Ireland/ Irelands Coasts. It was very important to do both programs because I had a complete understanding of the country, politically, socially and was able to see the very diverse landscapes. I had 4 days on my own in Dublin waiting for the 2nd program to begin and this was great because I could do things that were not included in the itinerary. Both programs went to different places. I encourage Road Scholar to offer more programs that are back to back so participants can have the opportunity to experience a complete understanding of where they are and not have to leave out anything when it often takes so long to travel to a location.

The Coast to Coast Ireland trip was wonderful. Learning about Northern Ireland, murals etc. was so intense but helped me so much understanding the country. The beauty of Ireland was just as beautiful as everyone says. I loved the music visiting Crane's Pub in Galway. Loved the music throughout Ireland. Stephen Delaney was a fantastic guide. He was so informative, quick wit, and personable. Could not have asked for a better experience with a guide. As usual, the people on Road Scholar trips are wonderful. Caring and fun. I would recommend this trip whole heartedly.

I was amazed at the amount of history that we received and the speakers were delightful. This was a trip that I had wanted to do for a long time because my gggrandparents were from Ireland and it helped me understand what their life was like in their home country.

Brian from New York, NY Number of programs attended: 3

This was a very rich experience. Sarah Clancy, our guide, was excellent, filling in lots of details in the broader picture of what is Ireland. Full of energy, solicitous and caring, she added a lot to the experience. Fascinating to learn about the Troubles in the North. Dinner at home with an Irish family and a performance at the Abbey Theater in Dublin were nice additions to the itinerary.

Garland from Cary, NC Number of programs attended: 4

Wow, wow, wow! The coasts of Ireland from Malin Head at the tip in the north to Cobh in the south, from Konnemara and the Cliffs of Moher in the west to Newgrange in the east--we saw them all with some Belfast, Killarney, Cork and Dublin in between. Great lectures on the “trouble” and Ireland, past and present, and a dinner with an Irish family were other features. All this plus the enthusiasm of our leader, Alan Ralph. Absolutely tops! “How ‘bout that?”

Bonnie from Nokomis, FL Number of programs attended: 11

A truly educational tour of the past and present history of Ireland while a feast for your eyes from the scenery. Sorry you can't all have Alan Ralph as your guide. He was simply the best!

Ireland is not just for the Irish. If it's not on your bucket list, find a slot for it. I think you will be amazed at the varied landscapes and the genuine warmth of the people. The visit to Newgrange alone is reason enough to make the trip.

This was a place I "needed" to see... where my roots are. Road Scholar made it easy and enhanced and expanded my understanding of Ireland's history.

The trip was fascinating. Every effort was made to facilitate comfort and good food in a variety of accommodations (including a home meal). I left Ireland with a deeper understanding of the history and culture of both Irelands: Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Experts provided fascinating lectures, walking tours. I have no doubt that our trip coordinator could have provided a great deal of that... and we would never have known what we missed. the experts were a huge plus, including the drop-in member of Northern Ireland's Parliament.

Jane from Marquette, MI Number of programs attended: 1

The trip to Ireland more than exceeded my expectations in every way. I would recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Ireland. I came home feeling that I knew a great deal about this wonderful island, its history, its people, its culture!
