Program #19399RJ
10 Days | 9 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The British actors who facilitated our in group for the reminiscence theatre morning workshop were brilliant at working with us! Made the experience heartwarming, fun, provocative and meaningful.

My granddaughter Ariana and I loved the WONDERFUL improv workshops! Responding to prompts was a comfortable way to call up meaningful reminiscences. Shaping and honing the sketches that grew out of those was involving and satisfying. The guidance of gifted, easy-to-work-with facilitator-directors, helped our sketches evolve into a "play" which we were not embarrassed to perform before an appreciative audience of English strangers, a videographer and our interesting, open, friendly group. The DVD of that performance (which finally arrived after three months) makes a priceless memento. Four well chosen London productions enhanced our theatrical experience. As for the rest of the program, I offer one caveat: those who hope to visit venues not on the itinerary might want to give their trip an extra day or two. (I wish we had.) Our free time came in blocks too short to take advantage of without missing something significant. What sightseeing was programmed might sometimes have been better planned. (Ninety minutes for the Tower of London? How silly is that!) Still we had a great bus driver, and we enjoyed the sights we did see. The hotel was comfortable. Our meals were acceptable and sometimes better than that. In spite of minor flaws and occasional glitches, this is a terrific program, staffed by warm, caring, competent people.

This program exceeded my expectations; it provided a wonderful opportunity for me and my grandchild to share our love of theatre and explore our talents!

This well planned and well paced program created a real Age Exchange between the grandparents and grandchildren. Morning improvisation sessions, led by two gifted actor/teachers, led us to explore past moments that held dramatic possibilities for a little improv presentation. When these came together on the final day, after only about 9 hours of working on them, the results were astonishing--genuinely entertaining and sometimes deeply touching. Afternoon tours, ably led, held just the right number of London sights to see. Evening plays--39 Steps, Matilda, War Horse, and Midsummer Night's Dream, fed our developing sense of Theatre and and how it works. This program far exceeded my expectations. It opened up and deepened a sense of Thestre on many levels, not least the ongoing theater in our own and grandchildren's lives. Bravo!

Outstanding program, exceptionally well planned and well staffed. Intergenerational indeed, for it draws grandparents and children into shared projects of dramatizing significant moments in their lives--as well as providing worthwhile theatre performances and sightseeing in London. Staff is expert at encouraging and developing improv skills and uniting diverse strangers into a group of happy performers. Accommodations in Blackheath are in a pleasant village, with good meals in a comfortable hotel with an adjacent garden.
