We covered 3 islands in 10 days. The speakers were colorful, knowledgable, and approachable. My fellow travelers , although strangers at first bonded as family. I visited volcanoes, learned about Hawaiian culture, snorkeled, saw whales for the first time, went on a submarine and ate like a king. I was never bored. I had plenty of time to explore on my own. I am looking forward to going to a new part of the world with Road Scholar.

We enjoyed our first trip to Hawaii and this trip included what we wanted to see, and more. Pearl Harbor and volcanoes, the Fish Pond was interesting, the Maui Farm touching, and snorkeling in the clear water of Maui was refreshing. Did I mention the people of Hawaii are fabulous! Thank you

An excellent three island program with a superb leader and well educated instructors. The accommodations were excellent and the program well planned. I highly recommend the program to see and learn about the Hawaii Islands.

What a wonderful program! I was a little concerned about the level being "active", but I was able to handle it just fine. The planned activities and lectures were absolutely spot-on. I learned so much about the islands that otherwise I would not have been subjected to. Our leader was wonderful, congenial & very knowledgeable.

This tour of three of the Hawaiian Island is excellent with many good local speakers, friendly capable leadership and very well planned field trips. We learned so much and enjoyed everything.

This is a wonderful program; very informative, educational, interesting and fun. It was a wonderful program to learn new things, have fun and meet new friends. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone interested in Hawai'i.

If you are seeking a Hawaiian trip that does not concentrate on the flora and fauna, I recommend this one. I'm more into the history and culture of an area and this one stopped just shy of total immersion. I enjoyed everything except being sick on the snorkel outing. Between having my head in a bucket I did see humpbacked whales and porpoises cavorting in the waves so it wasn't a total waste.

Linda and I really enjoyed our trip to the three islands. It was enough for us to get the flavor of the experience and our travel companions were wonderful. Everyone was very nice and our leader, Lorrie was very nice and accommodating our large group of 26 people.

This was my first visit to Hawaii and was a great introduction. Our group leader, Frank, was exceptional and I intend to return to the islands soon. The balance between educational content and free time was just right.

A terrific introduction to Hawaii -- Waikiki, volcanoes on the Big Island and snorkeling, whale watching and beautiful parks on Maui -- most enjoyable.

Hawaii 11/ 2014 Tour Critique The bottom line is that Pat Lau is a super guide, and the Hawaii trip is well planned and executed. Pat is locally knowledgeable, verbal, musical, and a helpful and delightful leader for adults. The tourist site mix was excellent and well-paced. Group size was appropriate and responded well to the pace. The education element was well generally executed, and I offer a suggestion below. My suggestion: Hawaii is uniquely blessed with an assortment of world-class telescopes and astronomical facilities which are available and accessible for education. Therefor I suggest at least one educational segment devoted to the subject of astronomy and perhaps a site visit to one of the telescope sites. Everyone would be interested. A great introduction to Hawaii, particularly if you are interested in the geology of volcanoes.

Having attended 11 programs, but never to Hawaii, I expected this program to bring me the highlights of the various islands. It did not disappoint. Road Scholar knows how to select the highest levels of instructors while taking advantage of the culture, scenery and playfulness of the hawaiian atmosphere. As usual, we stayed in local well placed facilities each with their own advantages. This program was a first time offering and fairly fast-paced but we all went with the program and were organized by 7a.m. aa planned. Oahu (Pearl Harbor), Big Island of Hawaii(Kilauaia) and Maui( (Haleakala) were standouts. Some of the restaurants were mediocre and the Kilauaen Military Camp was so-so (tho well-located) but any opinions were overridden by the sights and the last resort (Royal Lahaina). I recommend this trip for a diverse visit to the islands. Our guide, Pat, was outstanding. Spouse and I spent 3 extra days on Oahu at the Moana Surfrider - it is gorgeous and well worth the money. We rented a car and drove to the North island to see the World Surfboarding championships being held over the next few weeks.

As a first-timer with Road Scholar and a first-time to Hawaii, this trip exceeded my expectations. Combining three very different islands with lecturers and field trips along the way; I have a greater appreciation for Hawaii, its people, and its language. Great tour leader and an interesting group of travelers.
