We have taken many Road Scholar trips and have found this program one of the most interesting, well-run programs of all. The history is so rich in this area and learning more about the lesser known presidents was priceless as a history buff.

Date attended: 09/27/15 - 10/02/15
Our experience could not have been better! The sites visited, our speakers, some free time for independent wandering, our group leader, the food- all just as we'd anticipated. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in our founding fathers and life in Virginia in the 17th, 18th,and 19th centuries. Meeting President Monroe was a highlight. We're already planning our next Road Scholar trips. Thank you!

This is a program I definitely recommend to anyone. We learned so much more than any of us thought we new about our early presidents. They became real human beings who struggled against all odds for what they believed in, despite their personal tragedies and failings. As we talked among ourselves with our new friends/fellow participants, we all found how grateful we all felt for those amazing "founding fathers."

A fascinating in-depth view of the people and events that made the seemingly impossible (a democratic republic of states with divergent agendas) possible. I was an indifferent history student, but this program made American history truly come alive for me. Can't wait for the next Road Scholar trip!

As part of our historical past, every Road Scholar participant should attend this program. You think you know about our "founding fathers" but you'll learn even more and the conversations with your fellow participants will be stimulating. Great job Mike our GL, Ward our very capable bus driver, and all the instructors who informed and enlightened us with their presentations. Another check-mark on my bucket list.

If you have any curiosity about or interest in U.S. presidents, this program will help quench your thirst.

Robert from Nashville, IN Number of programs attended: 13
Date attended: 05/17/15 - 05/22/15
Wonderful presentation of Va. President's homes and Mike was great leader. The English Inn was old. The maid missed our room one day and buffet food was awful.

Patricia from Plattsmouth, NE Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 05/17/15 - 05/22/15
This program left me with a greater appreciation of the sacrifices of these early leaders as well as the people who funded and worked tirelessly to save the homes from destruction. Each president left his mark on the homes. The classes were "icing on the cake" and left us with a greater knowledge of these men and their times.

Betty from New York, NY Number of programs attended: 6
Date attended: 05/17/15 - 05/22/15
Just completed the Road Scholar trip visiting the homes of eight Virginia Presidents. I found the program exciting and informative. Excellent leader. I appreciated the emphasis on slavery and how it fit into our American history.

William from Hanahan, SC Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 05/26/14 - 05/31/14
One more thing of my bucket list. this was a great program. Eileen made it great. we never had to wonder what was next, etc. she keep us well informed. Ward our bus driver was a part time guide. he was full of trivia for us. The English inn , I had to many maintance problems in my room, to say anything good, and the food was horrible.

Leigh from Schaumburg, IL Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 05/26/14 - 05/31/14
It was the first time I'd joined the Road Scholar and I was very impressed. The program was very well organized. Eileen, our coordinator did a superb, superb job! The lecturers were very knowledgeable, and Ward, the bus driver was more than a bus driver - he was an excellent tour guide himself! Michie Tavern lunch buffet was a great treat! I enjoyed the performance to make us laugh "A visit with Col. Monnroe" - not only was he an excellent actor, but also a historian himself! I really enjoyed the trip, came home with more knowledge of the American history than I've ever learned! These Presidents are amazing ... Thank you!
