Mexico is not to be feared; wonderful opportunity to learn about US History as well as Mexico History.

Can someone pray tell me why this program has a quality evaluation rating of only 4.4? I give it a 4.9. Out of the 54 programs I have taken with Road Scholar to date, this was one of my 10 best. While the group size of 33 was too large by my standards (and one of the largest Road Scholar programs I have ever been on), it was a great bunch of friendly and active participants. Our kind and caring program manager was a real sweetheart who attended to individual dietary restrictions (or dietary peculiarities in my case, as I love Mexico very much, but can’t stand Mexican food). She was well-organized and made sure that everything ran smoothly. One might think that a program with 8 lectures on the history of Mexico would be boring, but not so. Our study leader made the complex history of Mexico so interesting that it would have been totally impossible to fall asleep during his lectures and each one kept us hungering for more. Any world traveler who does not visit the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage town of Guanajuato is doing himself (or herself) a serious disservice. Three out of our four hotels were very good, but few if any people in the group liked the one in Guanajuato. The breakfasts were not buffet, I had mold and mildew in my shower stall, the sole elevator was not working, and worst of all, the hotel was too far from the town center and was not within walking distance to all but the hardiest walkers. This hotel needs to be changed in favor of one closer to town. Indeed, had it not been for the hotel in Guanajuato, I would rate this program a perfect 5. I have posted 62 photos to the Road Scholar website that I think are representative of what we saw on this program (other than Mexico City).

This is a very worth while trip. It was well run. There is lots to see, lots to learn and lots of fun interacting with the other participants and leaders.

If your want an insight into Mexico of yesterday and today, this is the tour for you. It's not Acapulco and it's not Mexico City, it is colonial and everyday Mexico and Mexicans, led by a knowledgable and amusing guide.

Nice program - hotels, guides, esp. the one in Mexico City. Would have enjoyed more time at the Anthropology Museum in Mexico City

We had been in the area before and wanted to see it from a different perspective. We thought the program presented a balanced view for a group with diverse interests

Program was well organized and covered the 3 major destinations thoroughly (although I would want one more day in San Miguel and one less in Guanojuato). Tour leader and lecturer were excellent as was guide in Mexico City. Hotels were comfortable and the food was delicious. Great group!
