The Wolf Ridge is an excellent program for children and grandparents. It is educational and fun at the same time. The one to one with your grandchildren is such lovely time together.

When we began looking for an intergenerational program to do with our granddaughter, Wolf Ridge was on the short list but the description lacked "feedback" from previous attendees. I hope this helps future participants. Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is situated in an exquisitely gorgeous yet remote location near Lake Superior. The surrounding land (mtns, lakes) and facilities (dorms, education, science buildings and dining hall) are like "summer camp" but with a huge plus...the educational staff (called naturalists) are "experts" in their field and make ALL of the programs interesting for the children. The naturalists have an exceptional grasp of the information, encourage environmentally friendly practices and are skilled at presenting in an interactive way. Their ability to connect with the kids (and adults) is exceptional. The wonderful variety of programming ranged from active (hikes, Ojibwa heritage, French Voyageurs, indoor rock climbing, adventure ropes courses, canoeing, swimming, stream study, art projects) to passive (evening programs on wolves, raptors (using live raptors), north shore heritage [one woman play, superbly done]...children were fully engaged, listening with rapt attention, for each of the presentations because they combined all learning modalities and made the presentations interesting). This is an excellent (and affordable) program for active grandparents who enjoy nature and want to share this experience with their grandchild or grandchildren.

What a great adventure for the kids and the grandparents! The kids were kept too busy to get homesick and everyone slept the night through! Breakfast at 7:15 and the last program ended at 9:15! Adventure filled days.
