EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a more flexible schedule with ample independent time and several meals on your own, then our FLEX learning adventures are made for you.

A wonderful introduction to the history, sights, people, and gorgeous scenery of western England and northern Wales. Some tour highlights many group members liked included an Evensong service at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle; backstage tour of and play at Royal Shakespeare Theater; day in Oxford; Conway Castle and Slate Museum (Wales); private tour of Castle Cottage, Beatrix Potter’s home; and Brantwood and Blackwell houses. The tour proceed amazingly smoothly given that we were on the very first departure of this brand new tour. Generally, the itinerary was well planned and packed with interesting sights and experiences. We very much enjoyed the railway and boat excursions. Instructors retained for Oxford/Stratford/Cotswolds, northern Wales, and the Lake District as well as the local guide for Chester were excellent: they “knew their stuff” and were charismatic. Less positively there was less free time that one would expect from reading the itinerary. Meals were most impressive with buffet full breakfasts and three course dinners generally with four or five options. Hotels were the least impressive part of the tour. Our room in the last three hotels did not have air-conditioning (although air-conditioned rooms may have been available) and even with only 70-degree days rooms were stifling, although requested fans helped. The Keswick hotel, although centrally located on a main street, is situated adjacent to several bars and as a result was inflicted with late night (until 3AM) loud street noise. Overall, we would highly recommend this tour for travelers who want to see England without spending time in London with the bonus of northern Wales.

For a first time time RS solo traveler, this program went beyond my expectations. Besides seeing England and Wales at it's best with perfect weather, our guide and course directors were knowledgeable, professional and demonstrated wonderful humor in every situation. Windsor was special with an extra Evensong service many of us attended. The trip behind stage in Stratford after the play was very special. And then the beauty of Wales and the Lakes District (Beatrix Potter, sheep, boat and train rides, gingerbread, etc.) was inspiring. Be sure to go -- wonderful experience!

England and wales were at their best with warm days and sunny skies. This tour offered something for everyone: landscapes, gardens, houses, colleges, slate mining, boat rides, history architecture and more.
