The island is indeed a treasure and our host/cook/driver/guide Jim made our trip so special. We explored almost every inch of the island and learned so much about fishing, flowers, birds, and the island. When I first saw the Blue Bird school bus, which was our transportation, I knew we were in for an authentic and natural experience. Great trip!

We agree with the previous reviews wholeheartedly. In addition, we really enjoyed the small group, as everyone got to know each other quite well.

This is a fascinating natural history and local history program in a setting from years ago. The inn is charming-and showing her age. This adds to the overall experience. The lectures could use some sprucing up, but the field trips were tops. We traveled on an old (and clean) school bus-so nothing fancy. It works. If you are comfortable leaving behind ultra modern hotels, and enjoy a good hot breakfast and great dinner and picnic bag lunch daily, and are interested in learning about the island and the livelihood of the residents, this is for you. It is a different world-no locked doors, you can take a safe walk at night, and the staff at the inn are all fiendly and helpful.
