We have visited the Biltmore before and knew a lot about the Vanderbilts, but that didn't matter. We learned so much and totally enjoyed the whole experience. Kevan Frazier, an expert on Asheville and the Vanderbilts, is one of the best speakers we've ever heard. He's informative, entertaining and enthusiastic. Tours of the Biltmore and two historic churches, plus free time to explore the wonderful downtown area, were interesting and fun. But there's a lot more walking (and steps) than a "moderate" rated program should have.

A wonderful program. If you haven't seen Biltmore Estate at Christmas, you need to do this one next year. Candlelight tour, next day behind the scenes tour. Imagine going from the Thomas Wolfe Boarding House where you never knew who would be in one of the double beds with you and 30 people shared two bathrooms....to an estate where each guest had a huge bedroom, lady's maid, and their own bath. Tea whenever you wanted, just ring the bell! Our leader, Jane, was terrific. Looking after all our needs and more. Lots of very nice people on the trip who are now our friends!

Rene from Billings, MT Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 12/07/14 - 12/12/14
This program was the 1st for me and my sister. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Bonclarken Lodge, the lectures of history on the Biltmore and the Asheville area, and the bus trips to see the buildings and historical areas talked about in the lectures. Our group leader was wonderful and she took care of every little detail to make this program so enjoyable. The lecturers made the topics really interesting and come alive in todays world. After this, I plan to make other Road Scholar trips in the near future.

Paul from Midlothian, VA Number of programs attended: 2

The program exceeded the expectation of both I and my wife. It was a wonderful adventure to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary.
