Great program if you want to view appalachian wildflowers up close and get in some hiking as well. Very good instructors, great mountain scenery-- a good way to welcome Spring!

This is a program for people who primarily wish to hike and have wildflowers pointed out but don't really want to see identification characteristics or learn much about them. We were mostly in a long string of participants along narrow trails so it was difficult for most of us to know why the leaders had stopped or what they had to say about the plant they were looking at. They had an "assistive listening" tour guide system which worked well and solved this common problem but they only used it one afternoon! The leaders could have checked out the locations before taking us to avoid one hot afternoon hike along a river with very few wildflowers and lots of poison ivy. The opening slide show by one leader was rambling and largely focused on landscaping while an introduction to plants and local wildflowers would have been much more useful. The first hike could have been planned specifically as an introduction to wildflowers with more educational input and instruction on the use of the listening devices.
