For me, this was the perfect introduction to RS trips. The leaders were knowledgeable, pleasant, and easy-going.The accommodations were authentically Shaker while convenient and comfortable, and the nature walks well planned and enjoyable. Meals were always delicious. I have suggested this trip to many and might even do it again.

This was a delightful program. I learned much about different wild flowers, which my friends and I looked for on a recent hike this past weekend in Arkansas. It was one I would do again

Laura from Louisville, Ky Number of Programs attended: 6 Date attended: 04/12/15-04/17/15 Pleasant Hill is a beautiful and peaceful place. The" Walking Through Wildflowers Program" was a sight to behold. The accomodations were wonderful with comfy beds and spacious light filled rooms . The food was excellent and all the staff were gracious and helpful. The best part were the instructors knowledgeable, flexible, fun and interesting. I may go again when I feel the need for a walking meditation.

Definitely met the high standards of knowledge and hospitality I've come to expect from Road Scholar programs! Comfortable and authentic accommodations; interesting and extremely enthusiastic instructors; delicious food; insight into the hopes and dreams of the Shakers. I was particularly impressed by the gracious ways Ben and Don handled the differing levels of botanical experience among the participants. Kentucky at this time of year is magical!

My partner and I were extremely satisfied with the entire program. We got an eye opening experience that was much more than we expected. The accomodations were good while giving autheticity to the era. The leaders had an excellent plan for each day and were experts in botany with knowledge of birds, trees, and a respect for the land while eager to share and answer the many questions that came up all while being genuinely involved with our group. We definitely got the entire spectrum of Shaker Village and its 3000 acres of woodlands, praries and streams. An outstanding experience.

The food was delicious & plentiful. Some traditional Shaker recipes. Full breakfast buffet, salad & soup, sandwich, or quiche for lunch, full dinner with huge desserts. You could gain 5 pounds! But the scenic walks worked it off. Excellent teachers, lovely accommodations, silence & peace.

Loved staying in Shaker Village and walking in the surrounding woods. We were a bit early for the profusion of flowers I had imagined, but found plenty of samples anyway. The leaders were very good and knowledgeable and even a flora-challenged person like me can now recognize lots of species. On our free afternoon, Elsa, one of the Shaker Village staff, gave us a 2 hour historical tour of the town; I would recommend that it be included in the regular program. My only complaint was the food, which was off-menu, mass feeding buffet items, many of which were not served hot or just not very good. The fresh salads and desserts, however, were wonderful, as were the breakfasts. I would recommend this trip to friends.

The Village is beautiful, and the leaders and lecturers were the best I have experienced. The efforts being made here to re-introduce a true prairie environment are amazing, and worth experiencing.

My husband and I loved this week! Pleasant Hill Shaker Village is beautiful and interesting, our leader was excellent, and the walks and wildflowers were delightful. The week was well-planned, well-paced, and a great spring tonic.
