Program #19800RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Great program. My grand-daughter (and I) learned a lot about the film-making process. The instructors were very helpful and gave good life, as well as career, lessons.

Great program. Both kids and grandparents were involved in planning, executing, revamping shots and all the details in making a short movie. The professional help from IFFI Films program was helpful and readily available to assist throughout the program. Kids enjoyed learning stunts from Jason Medbury. He provided good instructions and a safe environment to practice 5 or 6 different stunts. The Makeup Seminar produced many different gruesome looking injuries as the kids asked for a variety of make up and special effect techniques. Well done program that could have used additional time (possibly omitting the trip to Sony Studios) in order to give more time for filming and editing. Great teamwork. Kudos to the kids, grandparents, and professionals who provided so much assistance.

This was very informative and fun. The teamwork between the kids on a team and the grandparents was delightful. You can really be active in the process and get lots out of the time spent. Well done.

This is an excellent program for intergenerational participation. Grandchildren and grandparents join actively to script, plan, film and edit a final product which all participants view on the final evening. You are provided a thumb drive to take your film home and a cd is sent to you later. The staff is enthusiastic and helpful. The kids step up to the process and have so much fun doing it. The classes are interesting too and very well done. It was the seventh intergenerational for my grandson and me. So glad we did this one which is more active than most.

If you like films, if you ever wondered "how they do that" in a movie, if you thought you might want to make your own, go to Intergenerational Hollywood Film School.

I attended this in 2013 with Michaela, who was 13 at the time and has been traveling with me since she was six (this was her 5th Elderhostel/Road Scholar trip!) She loved it - said it was the best ever. She's not a film "nerd," but found the other participants very congenial (my favourite moment was when she came "home" to our hotel room at 11:30 pm and said that she and her friends had "lots of important stuff to discuss!" As in actually talking - not using electronic media!) Great leaders and great program!
