Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Perfect program for grandparents and grandkids. I do think that all electronic devices should be put away during this special time though - too much distraction. Loved the outdoor and indoor games. Wonderful to reconnect with grandparents who you have met before and kept in touch with. Also fun to meet new grandparents and share experiences. Staff was terrific and it would not have been so great if it were not for them. Thank-you! Valerie Pachla, Schroon Lake NY

If you are willing to get your feet wet and muddy, this is a spectacular program. Staff really made the trip such a joy. Children and adults were kept busy every moment--children loved catching crabs and seeing the ponies. The campfire provided good old-fashioned fun--songs and s'mores. Children who only met on Monday performed in a talent show Thursday night. Amazing time--Fun, Education, Bonding My grandchildren keep caling to ask if we can go back!!

One of the best weeks I have experienced with Roadscholar intergen. Wonderful, magical week. Be prepared for adventure.

Brenda from Glen Allen, VA Number of programs attended: 1

I live only 10 minutes from my 3 grandkids and we spend a lot of time together, but this trip allowed me to enjoy the Adventure, not as a caretaker, but as an equal participant in the fun and learning. I saw how independent and capable they truly are. I'm sure I will always have the memory of their huge smiles and joy from deep within. This was my first Road Scholar trip and I will absolutely go on others. My only fear is that the bar was set so high with this one!

Kathryn from Milford, OH Number of programs attended: 4

Our six year old granddaughter had a great time and wants to do it again! Papa and Grandma also enjoyed the shared experience.

Ethel from New York, NY Number of programs attended: 8

"Hands On-Feet Wet" is the perfect description of this first rate science program on the ecology of the mid-eastern seacoast. The subjects covered were of interest to this grandparent as it was to my grand daughter, and sharing this experience with her was indeed special.

Sheila from Little Neck, NY Number of programs attended: 9
Date attended: 07/19/15 - 07/24/15
The program is described for ages 9 - 15, but almost everyone was between 9 and 12.

Joni from Harrisonburg, VA Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 06/21/15 - 06/26/15
Had heard from several people that this was a wonderful program and I agree wholeheartedly. This was a result of the marvelous staff, their energy and knowledge, and love of kids.

John from Saratoga Springs, NY Number of programs attended: 37

We recently returned from this program with our 9 year old grand daughter...it was one of the best experiences we've had with any Road Scholar program (we've done 35)and she loved it. It truly deserves it's 5 star rating.

Mary Ann from Ouray, CO Number of programs attended: 4
Date attended: 06/21/15 - 06/26/15
A great science and nature experience for both the kids and their grandparents. Wonderful balance of field trips, lab experiences, discussions, campfires and fun.

Mary Ann from Winchester, VA Number of programs attended: 3

The staff and interns provided an outstanding marine adventure for my granddaughter and me! If you enjoyed going to camp as a child or have ever had fun learning science, this is a must do Road Scholar trip so your grand child can have those same wonderful experiences.

William from Morgantown, WV Number of programs attended: 7

What a wonderful program! If you're looking for something fun and memorable to share with a grandchild, look no further. This was a great experience for both generations (and very reasonably priced).

Peggy from Reston, VA Number of programs attended: 1

This was a fantastic program- educational and fun for both generations. We were all inspired by the energetic, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable and patient staff and enjoyed interaction with a great group of "campers." Peggy, Reston, VA

We have taken four inter-generationals, and all were excellent. This was exceptional, because it has more than adequate staff. In addition, it has 8 high school interns who teach and entertain the grandchildren. This is a week to remember.

Ruth from Mount Laurel, NJ Number of programs attended: 25
Date attended: 08/03/14 - 08/08/14
I have taken 4 grandchildren in 3 different years to this wonderful opportunity. Each of us enjoyed the many benefits of this program and continue to refer to it many months and years later. It is a true learning experience about so much more than maritime life.

Mary from Tonawanda, NY Number of programs attended: 24

This program offers a very interesting experience for both grandchild and grandparent. There was adventure and education for everyone!

My granddaughter and I had a terrific experience at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station. Excellent staff, activities, accommodations, and food. We learned so much, we're ready for another Road Scholar trip next summer.

Leslie from Ithaca, NY Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 07/06/14 - 07/11/14
My grandson loved this program, and was very sad to leave. Since he was a toddler, he has been fascinated with sea creatures, so I knew this would be perfect for him. His biggest thrill was holding a pufferfish in his hand, and participating in the trawling field trip. One of the best aspects of this program was the supervised play during free time. This facilitated friendship, and was immensely beneficial. The staff was friendly and attentive, and we all learned a lot. The food was plain cooking--wholesome, a lot of choices, and always a vegetarian alternative. The worst part of the program was the required sweeping of the room before leaving, and the room inspection before formal departure. A little degrading, and unnecessary, since I learned that the room would be also be cleaned by staff.

This intergen Marine Science program was excellent. It built lasting memories for my grandson and me and was educational and fun for both of us. I plan to take my other grandchildren on similar trips when they come of age.

It is a whole new way of looking at life in the marshes. It was a great experience for my grandson and me. Highly recommend this program. Mary Hahn

An introduction into coastal marine science with your grandchild. Very well run and organized, with helpful high school interns to assist the staff. Highly recommended for grand parents and their young grandchildren (10-12)

Bob from Indiana, PA Number of programs attended: 5

Our grandson came with a solid background in nature and scientific inquiry. The program staff did an excellent job of building on his interests, and provided valuable role models as young scientists.

We had a wonderful "hands on" learning experience with our grandson who lives out west. He know mountains well but was eager to learn about marine life. We had a great shared experience. We also had the early morning opportunity to watch a small rocket launch from the NASA site.

Jon from Reston, VA Number of programs attended: 2

An outstanding program and a great introduction to marine sciences.
