ACTIVITY LEVEL: Challenging
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.

EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This is an outstanding program. The hiking was as challenging as one wanted it to be - the leaders did a good job of accommodating the differences in desired activity level. I think that the program characterization of "Challenging" is spot on. The scenery at Zion is awesome. The leaders (Gary, Sherry, and driver Steve) did a great job. I always felt that their primary interest was ensuring a good experience for all. Our group was very diverse and very interesting. I enjoyed them all. I highly recommend this program for anyone who enjoys being outdoors and engaging in activities which are at times a bit strenuous.

Terrific trip. I fell in love with Zion. Absolutely wonderful guide and coordinator. Both Sherry and Gary added so much to the trip.

As I stitch my quilt of memory the trip to Zion will be a central part of my life's tapestry. The beauty of Zion, the grace of the leaders, the laughter of the people I chose to hike with all made the trip memorable. While this was my first trip with Road Scholar, it will not be my last trip.

Fun, fun, and more fun. Knowledgeable staff, great trails and spectacular park. I will definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting a superb hiking experience and am thinking about my future plans for another Road Scholar program.

Sandra from Eugene, OR Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 10/22/12 - 10/27/12
Sandra from Eugene, OR. Date attended: 10/22-10-27/12 This was my 2nd active Road Scholar trip and the hikes were as challenging as I had hoped. Three guides which included the driver and the geologist. With three people our group could hike at different speeds according to there speed. Our geologist, Keith, presented geology in a manner that was understandable for the layman. Just wish he had been my professor when I was an undergraduate. Accommodations were good.

Kathleen from Pisgah Forest, NC Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 10/22/12 - 10/27/12
After 9 Road Scholar programs, this one is tied for first place. If you want spectacular hiking, with maximum flexibility, this program is for you. Not only do you get the absolute best group leader, an excellent geologist and a driver with knowledge of the park who hikes with you, but the park and town shuttles allow participants to come and go from the park of their own schedules. Transportation is on a comfortable BUS. Accommodations are very good and so is the food in Zion We rate this program a 10!
