Road Scholar
Program #20379RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Excellent program, fascinating speakers, great field trips. I learned so much about the Civil War and REAL Southern hospitality.

This was a great program. The educational opportunites were excellent. The entertainment was very special. Food was very good. I highly recommend this Natchez program.

Hannah from Salem, MA Number of programs attended: 8
Date attended: 03/30/14 - 04/04/14
Although the materials gave a very enlightening preview of the program in historic Natchez, nothing prepared me for the fascinating and diverse experiences I had visiting this city. If you have a passion for the history and architecture of the south, this is your program!

Nicholas from Norwood, MA Number of programs attended: 24
Date attended: 03/16/14 - 03/21/14
Enjoyed the complimentary wine at the hotel and interacting with the participants.

Barbara from Lexington, OH Number of programs attended: 6

I never realized how important and rich Natchez was before the Civil War, and seeing these beautiful homes, and learning about their way of life was really enlightening. This program was very well-organized and enjoyable and gave me a sense of the Deep South.

Judy from Columbia, MO Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 09/29/13 - 10/04/13
This program was beyond what I expected. Natchez is a jewel of the south, and much more educational and exciting than I thought it would be. Don't miss it.

The tour of Natchez, MS was my first Road Scholar tour. I love to travel, but to only see the highlights of a city without knowing the history, people, or context just seems empty. This tour gave me a valuable lesson in the history and make up of this wonderful city. This program has many welcoming and knowledgeable locals who are eager to share in the beauty and pride of their hometown. Exceeded all my expectations and highly recommend.

Walter from Knoxville, TN Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 05/14/13 - 05/19/13
Thoroughly enjoyed a fascinating trip back into the life and times of antebellum Natchez, MS. We never knew how rich in history and culture nor about the close ties Natchez had to the Pennsylvania and New York area during the early to mid-1800's. Many of the mansions of the wealthy cotton plantation owners have been restored and are a sight to behold!

Robert from Neenah, WI Number of programs attended: 11
Date attended: 03/30/13 - 04/04/13
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days in Natchez learning about it's history, touring mansions, and, of course getting to know more interesting people. It was also fun to see "southern genteel" ladies as our coordinator and guides. Will need to take the Vicksburg program next. The listening devices work so well, very helpful.
