Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. This is a fantastic program. Not only did we see terrific plays, but we gained a real understanding of what goes on behind the scenes. We met actors, and then got to see them on the stage, found out all about costume production, stage management, makeup, and all the little things that come together to make the whole. As a bonus, we went across the street to the rare book room at University of Southern Oregon for up close looks at Shakespeare folios and other rare documents. I want to do this again next year!

This wonderful program exceeded my expectations. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is an American treasure that should be enjoyed by a wider group and Road Scholar is a great presentation.

The survey of my recent OR trip has some serious glitches. When I tried to edit my comments, I lost several times the entire text. After 3 attempts, I got frustrated RETYPING COMMENTS ON THE LAST PAGE 3 TIMES and gave up trying!

A wonderful program both for Shakespeare fans and for those who want to know more about the bard, his plays, and times in which they were written. Don't miss the folios at the SOU library - Holinshed Chronicles, as well.

I you are in anyway interested in theater, go on this program. Ashland has some of the best theater in the nation. And the program enhances the experience exponentially.

This is an excellent, easy, and entertaining week with Shakespeare (and other playwrights) in a beautiful bucolic setting where we interacted with actors and key members of the stage production staff, enriching our understanding of each play we saw. During our session we lived in a college dorm and were surrounded by the pace of youth and learned in a classroom environment. Recommended!

Robert from Menlo Park, CA Number of programs attended: 6

A thoroughly enjoyable learning experience. Classes with actors as well as people working behind the scenes gave insight into the acting experience as well as what goes into mounting a production. Classes that discussed the large themes and language of the plays we saw were perhaps my favorite learning experience. All of the presenters were down-to-earth, real people--no divas! And our fellow participants (many of whom had been returning to the program year after year) were easy-going and affable. (And Wayne Schumacher, our group leader, was knowlegeable, relaxed, and informative.)

Rosalie from Menlo Park, CA Number of programs attended: 6

This is an outstanding program that takes one deeper into the entire process of acting and play production. It will enhance your enjoyment of plays and make you aware of all that is involved in getting a play to the stage.

Nickie from Boise, ID Number of programs attended: 3

I loved it all, and I especially appreciated the emphasis on Shakespeare. It was a wonderful experience to spend a week immersed in Shakespearean theatre, with people who also loved Shakespeare. It was an amazing experience to be able to talk with others about different productions we have seen, the productions we saw at OSF, and then on top of that to have a chance to talk with some of the actors about their productions, and other theater artists in different departs. Wow!

Ashland Oregon's Shakespeare Festival and the Road Scholar five-day tour is the place to "Brush up your Shakespeare" in a delightful wooded setting.

Simply outstanding. We have been attending the OSF since 1992 and this program enriched our viewing and enjoyment so much.

Absolutely top-notch. Great seats at performances, unbelievable preparation for the plays by "real" people from actors to production staff. Accommodations and food super.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival program is superb. I give it my highest recommendation.

Harumi from Portola Valley, CA Number of programs attended: 13
Date attended: 09/14/14 - 09/19/14
This is a very full program with little free time. It is filled with activities aimed at better understanding of the plays you see--visit to costume department, back stage, talk with actors in the play that you have seen or will see, etc.

Jill from Portland, OR Number of programs attended: 10
Date attended: 09/14/14 - 09/19/14
All the shows are well done and enjoyable. Be sure to partake of the extra things that are offered.

Karen from Carmichael, CA Number of programs attended: 32

Not only Shakespeare, but world premiers of other plays, getting to know the actors, dramaturgs, stage managers, costume shop "builders" and more! This is theater DELUXE to enjoy and savor!

Julia from Seattle, WA Number of programs attended: 1

I truly wonderful experience. The knowledge of the speakers, the plays, everything exceeded my expectations.

Diane from Stockton, CA Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 06/01/14 - 06/06/14
This is my first Road Scholar. My mother has attended for years and encouraged my sister and myself to join her for this adventure. It exceeded my expectations and I learned a lot. The opportunity to speak with actors, stage managers, make-up artist and costume designers was fantastic. Ashland is beautiful.
