ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

If you desire to stay in and have a real meaningful and total immersion in this magnificent park, this is for you. It is not for those that are satisfied with a pass through a park.

Awesome program. David Lucas the naturalist guide isfabulous. Sheila, our attending roadscholar, and ken our bus driver..all great. Yosemite is amazing and if it's on your list..move it up. Loved it!

I suspect that seeing Yosemite Park with the Road Scholar Program is a more satisfying way to see the park than driving to the park and figuring out what to view when.

There were plenty of spots where one could disembark from the bus. Even if one did not explore the trails at some spots, there was an awesome view to keep one's attention. A person could see all parts of the park without the driving and planning. Additional hikes were optional; those who were more active and wanted to see some places that were not part of the tour participated; those who were less active enjoyed the free time. Overall we were a compatible group with similar iterests. Having had years of experience in the park, the guide shared his wealth of knowledge and personal experiences. A great way to see a beautiful national park.

This is a great way to see Yosemite. It was my first time in Yosemite and my first Road Scholar trip. I certainly recommend it.

This program, by staying deep within the Park, offers participants the full "park experience". Seeing the granite cliffs and spectacular waterfalls as soon as you awake sets the tone for a wonderful day of education and exploration. And, the sight of the sun setting on Half Dome just prior to bed is a memory that will remain with you the rest of your life.

Exceptional trip with plenty of time to explore and learn in Yosemite. Naturalist provided by Road Scholar did an exceptional job. Free time to hike/walk and explore was sufficient. Lodging within the park is a big bonus on any trip as it eliminates travel time and gives you more time to explore and learn. Would highly recommend this program.

This was a wonderful trip. Be sure to bring hiking poles if you use them. The rooms at Yosemite Lodge were great, new bathrooms and furniture. If heat bothers you, request a first floor room which were much cooler.

I was at Yosemite once before (fifty years ago) but did not get to see much -- we stayed solely on the valley floor. With the tour I saw so much more and learned about the flora/fauna and history of the area. The meals at Double Tree Hotel in San Francisco, the Mountain Room Restaurant (near the Yosemite Lodge) and the Ahwahnee Hotel were delicious, yum! The food court, where we ate one dinner and all our breakfasts, was what we classified as acceptable sustenance. Every day was a fascinating adventure but the most awesome thing we saw were the climbers on the El Capitan cliffs. The rooms at the Yosemite Lodge could use some basic maintenance and updating but they were acceptable. Our group leader Barbara was fantastic -- friendly, helpful and warm. David, our naturalist, was a wonderful teacher and so knowledgeable that you wonder at all the information stored in his head. Finally, I want to thank the R.S. staff and everyone in our group for being so gracious and thoughtful in regards to my service dog Daisy. Everything went smoothly for the two of us and Daisy loved the trip too. C.J. McLaughlin

A beautiful national park in a beautiful time of year. This program was enhanced by the "friendly persuasion" of our tour director, Barbara, and by the extremely informative, down-to-earth interpretation provided by our naturalist, David.

This was a wonderful outdoor experience with fine accommodations. A fine, comfortable bus took us on interesting excursions to see wondrous scenic sights - ancient tall trees and prehistoric rock mountains. Since it was late fall, the water falls were dry. However the trees rained down gold and orange leaves magically carpeting the valley floor. The educational program was well designed especially featuring an outstanding nature guide. David Lucas, was extremely well informed about the history and natural wonders of the park. Above all, without Barbara's skilled programming and coordinating skills, their'd be no program.

Wonderful program. Fall is a great time to visit Yosemite. Although there is no water (ie waterfalls), the park is beautiful and not crowded.

Bonnie from Fort Myers, FL Number of programs attended: 3

Yosemite more than lived up to its reputation, and the program's length gave us the opportunity to enjoy it at leisure with congenial companions, while the walking involved was, by and large, within my capabilities. I strongly recommend this tour.

Great program! Takes participants to many parts of the park. The naturalist was superb and a great enhancement to the program.

Yosemite is a spectacular place. The Road Scholar program added to it's enjoyment.

We can't say enough about our program in Yosemite. From expert instructors to onsite accommodations, great meal options, and cordial group interactions. Yosemite provided the incredible material and Road Scholar made the most of it. Thank you!

This is a great program highlighting what appears to be the best of Yosemite, a beautiful place with a very interesting history. I would recommend going in the spring rather than early summer as it got quite warm, and apparently the water level of waterfalls, etc is even better earlier in the year. Don't expect great things of the food, this is a park environment without great variety. The educational component was great, and all the field trips were beautiful.

This was a great trip with an excellent naturalist and a very competent group leader. The food and accommodations however were well below what we have come to expect from Road Scholar. Better lodging was available and would have been worth the additional cost. Gene from Apex, NC

Definitely go on the trip if you want to explore Yosemite in detail and want to learn more about geology and biology. Do not go on this trip if you want decent food.

Rindy from Penn Yan, NY date attended: 10/28/12-11/02/12 This was my first RS experience and it certainly surpassed all of my expectations! It was well organized, wonderful leader and guides, and we saw all the major highlights of the park. The fact that we stayed right in the park was a plus as it gave the opportunity to explore on our own by using the free park shuttle service. I highly recommend this trip!

The tour to Yosemite National Park was a highlight of my traveling adventures. It is truly an emotional experience to witness nature in all its glory and marvel how this park was created millions of years ago. It is not to be missed!

This was a great trip. I had been to Yosemite before but this time saw it in a different season. Even though most of the falls were "Dehydrated" it was still beautiful and spiritual. The meals at the Ahwahnee and Wawona Hotels were a high point.

Gale from Saint Charles, MO Number of programs attended: 7

This is the very best trip anyone could take to Yosemite as it covered every experience one could want.
