Best Road Scholar program we've been on!

We have visited southern California but this was our first experience in Napa Valley. What an exciting tour seeing the grapes on the vine being harvested and then crushed for the first steps in winemaking. If you enjoy wine and having the opportunity to taste a variety, then this is definitely the tour for you! The "farm to table" food grown and served was excellent as well.

The swans and ducklings at the hotel were an unexpected delight. The food was the best I ever had at an Elderhostel, especially at the CIA. Found only one wine I liked well enough to look for back home.

We liked the program so much in spring that we signed up for it again in the fall! The program is brimful with historic, cultural, culinary, and wine highlights of Napa Valley, including lunch at the Culinary Institute and a tour and winetasting in a medieval-style castle. The hotel that the Road Scholars stay in is beautiful, landscaped with redwoods and roses, fountains, and a little lake with resident swans. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds. The food is consistently excellent.
