This was my first Road Scholar program. I had attended Elder Hostels about 10 years ago, and I was delighted with the whole week. The films were well chosen. I saw movies that I would have not seen at home, and found the talks impressive. It was great to attend an award presentation as an extra. Spending time with friendly people ...is a good thing! We saw 7 "required films" and 2 films on our own. Of the "required" films 3 were documentaries. The fact that they were not very good is beside the point. Since Road Scholar is a captive audience, and docs. are a personal choice , there should be no more than one documentary. The best films were the ones on our own.

What an invigorating experience. I truly was not prepared for all of the wonderful experiences in cinema, film, and movies. I LOVED it. I will sign up for next year without fail. I learned so much and will view movies through a broader lens in the future. Thank you Anna Brusutti!!!

I have attended many film festivals, since I have taught film courses for over fifty years. I have worked at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Kansas City Film Festival and currently screen films for the Mill Valley Film Festival. I have found that the Santa Barbara Festival is probably the easiest one to negotiate and one of the few where I have never been left out of a screening. The venues are great as are the films shown. I hope your future festivals are as rewarding as this one was this year. I saw fifteen films at the festival this, and I am not sorry about having attended even one of these. Road Scholar does a commendable job of coordinating the screenings and providing cinematically appropriate support by offering lectures and discussions before and after the films.

The festival was great.. The films chosen were excellent, the location was wonderful. The hotel was charming, it was within walking distance of the films and lectures. The lectures had improved and dealt with more formal aspects of film which we valued.
