This is a wonderful overview of the Mobile Bay Eastern Shore. We enjoyed the many opportunities to see different aspects of the area and learn from the people of the area. Great program.

Really enjoyed learning about Fairhope and how it began. Enjoyed learning the history of the Mobile delta bay area. What a pleasant surprise to learn about the Dogwood Trail Maids and their commitment to a virtuous lifestyle. Most of all, I enjoyed meeting other participants. Getting to know these people, from all over the USA, reminded me the fabric that makes this country exceptional, may be a little worn, but remains strong.

The Fairhope, Alabama program is very special in several ways. Held at Beckwith, surrounded by beautiful woods and on the shore of Weeks Bay, it provides the opportunity to get away from "big city" life and enjoy the quieter lifestyle of Southern Alabama. This program provides an insight to the history of Mobile Bay. Our presenters were interesting, humorous, and full of delightful stories of the area. The schooner trip on Mobile Bay is an adventure not to be missed. This program is a great selection for those who would relish a relaxing but fun filled week.

This program provides insights into seldom-told stories of our nation's past in an interesting setting. The facilities and food are simple but satisfying and provide good value for the price of the program.

Our trip (to Fairhope/Mobile, AL) had all the elements we love: music, history, architecture, sailing. We were well feed with great attention to those on glucose-free and diabetic diets. The speaker on the history of the area was so enjoyable I actually looked forward to learning more history! This was our first trip and I'm already signed up to go on another with my sister in June. Thank you so much Road Scholar for keeping the aging process fun, exciting, and life-changing.

In spite of the ice storm, Laurent, our director, Roy and Lynn along with a fabulous on site staff, Anna especially, we had a wonderful week. I would not hesitate to come back. I've done 30+ Elderhostel/Road Scholar programs and this would be ranked in the top five.

My husband and I had never attended a Road Scholar program and even though all of the promotional materials looked great (and the price was right), we had relatively low expectations. We were so WRONG! We have traveled the world but had never been to the Mobile Bay/Fairhope area. We thought going in January would be nice, wrong again as we were there during snow and freezing rain. The on-site coordinator, Roy Suderly (supported by his very capable wife), had no choice but to adjust our schedule multiple times due to terrible weather conditions. Roy was flexible, resourceful, helpful, supportive, creative and superb at the job of keeping 36 people happy with their experience. We didn't have to worry we KNEW we were in great hands. For me, the highlight of the entire experience were the speakers: Dean Mosher, a modern day Thomas Jefferson, a renaissance man, an American icon, spoke articulately and effortlessly about history, naval battles and then we were stunned by the historical accuracy of his superb paintings (one just added to the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum), I'm sorry that I didn't get his autograph because it may be worth millions one day. Tom Morley, the classically trained violinist turned fiddler, an incredibly gifted musician, was down to earth offering much information (and a power point presentation) about the history of stringed instruments/violins, spontaneously playing his fiddle (violin) to complement the presentation. The third impressive speaker was a woman boat captain who had build her own sloop, probably the only female in America with her credentials. In sum, speakers were exquisite, food was abundant, accommodations were adequate, site was terrific (but would have been more enjoyable had the weather been better). This experience ranks among one of the very best trips we have ever taken and the price was right! Arlene from VA Beach, VA
