ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Excellent experiences from guides to variety of activities were shared by fellow travelers. Poland startled the observer with its contrasts and beauty. Polish nationalism shines throughout the adventure.

The most informative and thorough tour to Poland out there!

This program provided an immersion in Polish history, geography, arts, music, culture, and its people.... Teutonic Knights to the Solidarity Union, the vistas from the Tatra Mountains to the depths of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, tapestries, sculpture, paintings, concerts, folk music; the list goes on and on. Even the frequent road trips provided one with an understanding of the diversity of this country and its amazing inhabitants. I could only improve this journey by adding additional days in Gdansk, Warsaw, and Krakow, but I appreciated the time spent out in the countryside to regroup after experiencing some of the dark WWII history in the major cities. I returned with a greater respect for the Polish people who have persevered throughout history as well as an appreciation for the land of my forefathers.

Our first RoadScholar trip and it met our expectations except that a group of 36 was a bit too large. Our program guides were knowledgeable and caring and the local experts were informative and interesting. The trip was very well coordinated, the lodgings were comfortable and well-situated and the sights were well-chosen. We would have preferred to have had some free time unbounded; in other words, an afternoon and dinner free so we didn't have to be back at a particular time. I would recommend this trip for anyone with an interest in Poland.

My 5th Road Sch trip. 36 participants too many for me. Covered a lot of ground/history. Don't try to visit a church on Sunday - they are overflowing!! The Bison Preserve and Zakopane were a waste of time - 6 bison; 100 tour buses in Z. Not a locals market! Great bkfst buffets! Very good hotels. Lots of castles and attractive town centers and informative, moving visits to Auschwitz and Birkenau. We visited interesting churches. I especially wanted to see the Viet Stoss alterpiece in Krakow - a work of art stolen by the Nazi's but found and returned after the war. Packed lunches generally OK but not always! Be prepared for a few early mornings - 6:30AM bkfst. Saw and learned a lot but would have liked more interaction w/ people, i.e., a school visit.

Great trip. Well conceived itinerary with considerable variety--medieval castles, wooden churches, renaissance town centers, baroque palaces, wildlife reserve, hunting lodges, concerts, lectures. Delightful guides, compatible group, good food, pleasant accommodations.

Wonderful trip! We learned a lot about Polish history and culture, heard great music (both folk and classical), and sampled a wide variety of food. (This was our first Road Scholar tour, and we were quite happy with it.) The audio system made it much easier to keep up with what the guides were saying. Jan (the group leader) and Marysia (the program assistant) were very knowledgeable, helpful, responsive. Recommendations: 1) Take this trip! 2) Take the time to read the Mitchener novel before you come (I'm glad that I did) -- you'll have a better appreciation for why we're visiting the various places. 3) Avoid the problems that I saw several of our group members grapple with: make sure you know how to use your camera, and bring some extra memory cards.
