We attended this program last month and I must say it was a perfect time of year for it. Wildflowers and cacti were blooming in profusion the whole week. We were told it was the best bloom in 5 years! Seeing the stars at night at McDonald Observatory was the experience of a lifetime. I loved how the expert showed us the constellations using a laser pointer. It was really chilly at night there and all four layers of my wardrobe were used and appreciated. I only wish I had had my gloves with me. If you can go to San Antonio a few days earlier or stay a few days later, take advantage of the opportunity to stay at the Drury Plaza Hotel. They gave us a great rate for an outstanding room and allowed us to stay there the first night of our program without moving to another room. The location allows you to see most of San Antonio sights by walking. The hotel provides complimentary beverages and hot food in the evening as well. It is a long drive to Big Bend from San Antonio and the tour provides movies along the way to keep you from being bored. The movies all have to do with the Big Bend, Fort Davis area and were very entertaining and educational. The instructors and the sights were all outstanding!

A delightful trip to a unique and remote part of our country. We understand that Big Bend is the least visited, but the most re-visited national park. I am happy to count myself among the few who have enjoyed this adventure. Go early and enjoy San Antonio, too.

Enjoyable trip. Was the first time this trip was offered so some tweaking for future trips might add even more enjoyment to the trip. Great scenery and Bruce is an outstanding tour coordinator.
