A perfect trip for a novice winter adventurer with moderate physical fitness! Great combination of active and less-active activities. Knowledgeable, well-prepared, enthusiastic leaders and instructors who work hard to provide safety, comfort, and great wildlife viewing to each participant.

This is a wonderful trip for those who would like to experience winter activities they have possibly not tried in a beautiful setting. The dogsled and hot spring experience was thrilling and something we would have never done without this opportunity. We have now included snowshoeing into our lifestyle because of this trip. All needed equipment was supplied by the program, making each activity fun and easy to enjoy. The lectures and exposure to the elk refuge was outstanding. We and the rest of the participants were all smiles without any complaints.

Despite its description as being moderately challenging, this trip is really a sampler of winter activities for those who have not experienced them before and is well suited for the energetic beginner: snowshoeing, cross country skiing, Rockies wildlife observation (we saw many!), horse-drawn sledding, riding a ski resort chairlift, and dog sledding. Staff is caring and well-accommodating, lodging is warm and comfortable, and food is tasty and filling. Most equipment and even clothing are available, but bring as much as you can. Unfortunately, it appears that the dog sledding, which is probably the highlight of the week and a unique experience, won't be offered in 2016.

Road Scholar's response:
Thank you for the feedback Randy! Please note that we do indeed plan on offering the dog-sledding activity on dates in 2016.We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the program!

Winter Adventures in Jackson Hole is an extraordinary program, plenty of spectacular wildlife, interesting people to meet, super fun snow time activities and the dog sledding is a once in a lifetime experience. For many years I have been an independent global traveler but you have me "hooked" now. Barb in San Diego

Our program at the Tetons Science Schools to snow-shoe, cross-country ski, dog sled, and especially the sleigh ride at the elk refuge was indeed a dream come true for me!
