Hiking and kayaking in Vermont was a real treat. The daily schedule was perfect for filling the day with activities and still leaving some free time for our own adventures. I enjoyed learning about Vermont and seeing it's beauty.

Vermont Up-close close was a wonderful, first Roads Scolar trip. Our hosts (Heidi, Deb) were welcoming and knowlegable; the rooms were clean and comfortable; the meals hearty and delicious. The group ( 22 of us) was fun and engaged. The hikes were invigorating, easy paced and beautiful. Getting the skinny from the state loon conservation lead on all hikes and expeditions (Eric) was a great plus. Lots of loon spottings as we canoed/kayaked the gorgeous lake - even two juveniles practicing take-offs. Really enjoyed the visits to the local farms. Great information on mushroom growing, hot house farming, local food shares, cheese-making, all delivered by residents of the northeast kingdom whose smiles showed their love of the work and place. You've got to meet them to appreciate it all. Our bonus - the full blood lunar eclipse overhead revealing a fabulous night sky of stars.

This experience was a fantastic one. The program directors could not be nicer or more helpful. Both Heidi and Deb were very helpful and kind. Our loon specialist , Eric was a great leader and teacher. We learned so much about loons and had a great time canoeing on the gorgeous lake and river and hiking through the forest. The food was as good as it gets! The vegetables and other foods were from nearby farms and could not taste any fresher. I give this trip an A plus!
