Saw a lot of amazing things on this trip. Matt, our leader, was very knowledgeable and helpful. My 3rd RS trip and our fellow travelers on these trips have been fun and interesting too. Another check on my bucket list--the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde. Loved the Jeep tour through Monument Valley.

My first trip with Road scholars was Four Corners Canyon Country and it was great! Matt Turner, our very capable leader made it very special. His knowledge of the area and it's geology was fascinating. The group was fun and like a big moving classroom. Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley are incredible places. Go on this adventure!

This was my first Road Scholar trip and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Climbing the ladders to the cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde was probably the highlight of my trip. I learned so much about the Ancestral Pueblo, Navajo and Hopi. The sights at Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley were amazing. Our group was fun and friendly. Matt, our guide, and Ray. the bus driver were terrific. You need to be in good shape to take advantage of all that is offered.

This is one of the top trips of all my Road Scholar programs. The scenery was magnificent, but what I liked most was being able to interact with some of the Navahos on their reservation. Our leader Matt was well-organized & very knowledgable. An added bonus was our bus driver Ray, who is a Road Scholar coordinator as well. Being a Hopi himself, we learned of that culture as well as that of the Navajo plus tons of geology.

Do you need to reorient your life or just get a change of scenery? This program is for you. A week in the desert Southwest immersed in the culture of the ancestral Puebloans and their world, and the fabulous scenery that surrounded them, is the path. This trip encompasses modern-day Albuquerque and Santa Fe (and great art in both places), the Pueblo ruins in Mesa Verde and the history and contemporary Navajo experience in Canyon de Chelly.

This RS program provides a wonderful overview of the geological and cultural history of the Four Corners region. Our personable tour leader, Matt Turner, shared in depth knowledge of the area and his passion for it is evident and quite contagious. From canyon hikes and tours led by expert guides, to presentations by talented Navajo artisans, we were educated and entertained with a variety of activities that satisfied a wide range of interests and abilities. Take this trip! Enjoy the beauty of the land and learn about the people who have held it dear for centuries.

What a wonderful adventure! We covered history, anthropology, geology, and more! Our leader Matt was incredibly knowledgeable, George our driver was always helpful and cheerful. The scenery was over the top! I would highly recommend this trip.

This trip is an incredible week’s journey into the history, culture, and geology of the Four Corners area. It will delight your senses, stretch your mind, and stir your imagination. It is impossible to miss how passionate and knowledgeable Matt Turner is about the subjects he teaches on this trip, and he will patiently answer all your questions. Our bus driver, George, was personable and professional at all times. While it was sad to clean the red dust of the Southwest off my hiking shoes today, I couldn't stop smiling. All I had to do was think back over a week of great adventures that I shared with a group of really amazing people. I agree with Diane W.—TAKE THIS TRIP!

This was my first RS trip, and I'm looking forward to doing more. Matt Turner shared his dry humor and endless knowledge of the areas we visited, the scenery was spectacular, and other travelers all good people who were easy to spend time with. George drove all those miles with a smile. Although I didn't read any of the suggested books or articles beforehand (true confession), I'm finding that I'm much more interested now that I've seen all those fascinating places on the itinerary. If you are at all interested in the Southwest, TAKE THIS TRIP.

As always, this program fulfilled my mission to occasionally do something different/learn something new. Matt Turner was a walking compendium of information and a tireless presenter. We were fortunate to have his expertise. My fellow participants were delightful. This is the second trip I have taken by provider Northern Arizona University. Both have been wonderful.

I enjoyed learning about the Navaho. The demonstration of rug weaving was fascinating. The young Navaho woman raises her own sheep, sheers them and spins the wool into thread. The set-up of the loom and the weaving technique is quite complex. Her last words of admonishment were "take care of your sheep". An interesting Navaho man lectured on clans and songs. I enjoyed two lectures about the ancient Pueblans given by two expert women. The scenery was stunning especially Canyon De Chelly. Matt, our tour guide, grew up in the area and his knowledge was invaluable.

Always wanted to vist Canyon De Chelly, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, etc. And definitely not disappointed by the trip, traveling companions, and especially our guide, Matt Turner, and his on board guides. Matt is one of the rare breed that brings so much to the experiences we were after. His broad knowledge of the region is impressive, and he left few questions unanswered.

One of the best Road Scholar programs we have attended. A great educational experience. Wondrous sights and adventures. Great speakers. Our guide, Matt Turner, was exceptional. Could not have asked for more. Not to be missed if you have an interest in history of the south west, native cultures or just enjoy seeing amazing sights.

An exceptionally informative and enjoyable experience under the leadership of a eminently qualified regional expert — Matt Turner. Highly recommended for those who are curious about Native American history and culture.

Just remember the walks on this program are at a high altitude and down into canyons which can be challenging on the return trip.

The Four-Corners trip was quite enjoyable in spite of the closing of the National Parks. While we did not get to see Mesa Verde, our guide quickly found some acceptable substitute activities that were worthwhile and, I would think, might actually be included in future trips if possible.

We just returned from an amazing tour! On the Road Four Roads Canyon Country. It was a tour of Mesa Verde National Park, Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley. The tour guide Matt Turner was very knowledgeable. He spoke about the geological rock formations in each area and told us about the life style of the American Native Indians that lived in the Cliff Dwellings and the states of Colorado, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. Some of my favorite sights were Spruce Tree House, Cliff Palace, in Mesa Verde & then White House and Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly.I loved the 2 jeep tours in Canyon de Chelly and Momument Valley. This is a must see vacation and I highly recommend that you go see these incredible places.

As always, I enjoyed another RS adventure. The 4-Corners area was fascinating. The ride through Monument Valley was 3 hrs. long and thrilling. Mesa Verde was awesome, but the most enchanting of all was Canyon de Chelly. I did not expect to see such a site! And getting to hike there; enjoyed the place from top to bottom!

The ruins of the Anasazi and their geological settings are incredible sights. The elaborate stone structures remain, but the mystery of the inhabitants' disappearance continues to intrigue. Experiencing Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly, and Monument Valley while learning about the cultures of their current Native American inhabitants makes the Four Corners program outstanding.

Anne from New Jersey # of programs attended:2 Date attended: 5/5/13 - 5/12/13 Super trip! Matt, our guide was full of information and passed it on with jokes and comments. Participants were open and friendly with all of us being awestruck by the beauty of the land. Five librarians on this trip, two professional photographers, a college professor, teachers, store owners, a retired flight attendant, etc... ---- what a group with whom to travel. I was moved to tears several times at the views. I'd go again in a second.

What a great time it was on this trip. I have been on numerous trips with RS, and the participants on this Four Corners trip made it one of the best. Going into Mesa Verde NP and Monument Valley Tribal lands was for me like a child in a candy store. As a photographer, the sights were absolutely remarkable. I would suggest this trip to anyone who is a photographer or who just wants to be totally amazed...

The Four Corners trip is a great way to explore Navajo lands, with 3 nights at Mesa Verde and 3 at Canyon de Chelly. The archaeology, history, geology, and insight into the present day Navajo experience make for a fascinating week.
