ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The area was beautiful. However, the activity level was not moderate. There were trails we took to the falls where we climbed down steep rocky grades. I did not complete the second trail for that reason, and because of rain, the rocks were wet. Others stayed behind too, and three people fell trying to complete the trail. Len was very prepared. I guess because of a prior Road Scholar photography program I took, I thought the instruction would be more individualized. Probably the range of photography experience was too great. Those who had years and years of experience found the instruction appropriate, but having "hands on" mentors would have been very helpful for those of us who were not experienced photographers. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Rick, the naturalist, was fantastic. He was passionate about his work and was always pointing out things we might have missed otherwise. I guess your evaluation will depend on your photography background and your physical ability to reach the areas being photographed.

This was my first Road Scholar program and what a wonderful introduction it was. The program met all my expectations, the setting was beautiful and the photo locations inspiring. I found the instructor, Len Rue not only friendly but very well prepared for any contingency. The lectures were interesting and Len used an extensive photo portfolio to illustrate the concepts he was discussing. Every staff member was friendly and had our interest in the forefront for the entire time. Kudos to the Road Scholar and Shawnee institute staff.

This was a very enjoyable program with fabulous scenery to photograph and interesting lectures. Although the leaves were a week or so past their prime, and we had cloudy and rainy weather, I learned a lot about photographing under these conditions. I recommend Len Rue and this program to anyone interested in photography.

I have done 15 RS trips and this was the best ever with a beautiful setting and a great teacher. The staff was fabulous and our group gelled together so well. Can't say enough good about it.

Len Rue is a world class wildlife photographer. It was an honor to work with him and receive the benefit of his expertise. He was able to help the beginner as well as the accomplished photographer. Weather was not an obstacle but enhanced the experience because Len was able to teach us to take advantage of varying conditions. We were so inspired, we chose to work together on our pictures and editing programs during our free afternoon.

Linda from Chester, NJ Number of programs attended: 4
Date attended: 10/20/13 - 10/25/13
This was a wonderful program!!. Len is an excellent teacher with the perfect sense of humor. I am just a hobbyist and learned so much. Shawnee Inn is lovely and the Poconos in the fall breathtaking.
