The hotel's location was great with relation to the cultural heart of Montreal. We enjoyed the ambiance there. The walks were long, but doable once or twice a day. Three times and I'm out looking for a cab or a metro alternative. Perhaps good restaurants for the evening meals can be found close to metro stops? We found using the metro very easy.

I agree with Bruce, the hotel was way too far from Old Montréal. I was very disappointed that our exploration (as it was described in the itinerary) of St Joseph's Oratory consisted of taking a picture from our seats on the bus. They should have trimmed down Roger's tour of the Château Dufresne and we would have had time for the Oratory and more time at the Jean Talon Market. That was too rushed.

This was my 5th Road Scholar program and it had several problems. First, we had to walk nearly 30 minutes each way to get to Old Montreal--aren't there any hotels closer? Second, one afternoon of the program was a complete waste. It was our free day but it was also a national holiday in Quebec with everything closed so there was nothing to do. Third, several sites listed on the original program for this tour were not included. We were supposed to visit an island near Montreal but did not; we supposed to spend time at a famous Church but only saw it from the outside and at some distance. We like Road Scholar but this program tests our interest in doing any more,
