I travelled as a single and met the most interesting people. Our group of 9 ( 2 couples, 5 singles) meshed at once. Altitude sickness hit 3 of us and 2 suffered from "Delhi belly". However, I think everyone reached their goals. Our guides were excellent and allowed us a lot of freedom to skip or partake of lectures or hikes. Our lectures, entertainers and activities were top notch. The adjustment of only one night in Kathmandu and 9 days in Bhutan was perfect for me.

Congratulations! With very short notice, Road Scholar demonstrated its ability to modify a program to work around the earthquake in Kathmandu, protect the travelers and deliver an exceptional program. Well done.

Your website is totally inadequate. It has taken me hours to complete this survey as when I hit Enter my comments are deleted. Very frustrating. also excessive marketing materials demotivate me

The trip to Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan was yet another Road Scholar success. These are amazing places and if they are on your "bucket list" this is a superb tour for fulfilling your dreams of visiting these remarkable lands.

Three Mountain Kingdoms was an excellent adventure. We learned an incredible amount about Buddhism by experiencing it in 5 different countries. Our tour guide Sanjay was beyond amazing, humourous, knowledgeable, open-hearted, and provided for our every need. He created cultural bridges for us wherever we went, talking to people and translating as we walked through villages, so we could make connections with local people. He surprised and delighted us continuously, including a side trip to a Takin Reserve to see the national animal of Bhutan, a flightseeing tour of Mt Everest, a hike to see the sun rise on the Himalayas, rickshaw tours of the old cities, Hot Buffet Picnic lunches in idyllic outdoor spaces (in a tent overlooking yaks in Tibet and along a river in Bhutan). All the local guides were wonderful including Jason, Penpa, Tim and Tippy. Accomodations were great in Beijing, Kathmandu and Paro, fantastic in Thailand, and best of all, Dhulikhel Mountain Resort. Overall highlight: the walk to Tiger's Nest Monastery in Bhutan. Our group was fabulous and cohesion was strong. Trip of a lifetime!!! Jenny Rangan

This is not a trip for the casual traveler; the pace is pretty hard driving. Virtually everybody in our group of 23 got sick at least once. BUT it can be done, at least with a tour guide like Sanjay Nepal: we had two people over age 90. And if you think that happiness is somehow linked to your material possessions, this trip may well be the VERY BEST ONE you have ever done.

PS In fact SanJay is SO OUTSTANDING that I would choose between the various options for trips by first making it a rule that I would go ONLY with SanJay. Is he really THAT good? YES!!! Check other people who were in our group, and you will find the agreement is universal!! There is probably only one person who regards SanJay higher than his clients do: his mother!!

This is a fabulous program--well organized, very nice accommodations, and great leaders! Everything was well thought-out and prepared, which made it a once-in-a-lifetime experience in a beautiful part of the world.

Just back from the amazing trip to the three Himalayan "kingdoms" (technically, only Bhutan remains a kingdom; Tibet is a region of China, and Nepal is a republic). For many, many years I have wanted to climb to the top of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, and also to climb to the fabled Tiger's Nest monastery in Bhutan. In addition, in 1966, I almost made it to Kathmandu, but did not succeed, so I have wanted to go there ever since. The trip is a complex one, with a day and a night in Beijing; four nights in Lhasa, Tibet; five in or close to Kathmandu, Nepal; five nights in three different places in Bhutan; and a final night and day in Bangkok, Thailand. EVERYTHING was superbly organized. Our group leader and four of the five local guides (the exception was the Lhasa guide) spoke good-to-excellent English and were able to pass on a great deal of useful information on their countries. Hotels were all clean and comfortable, and meals were varied and delicious. High points? The Potala Palace in Lhasa, the Hindu temples in Kathmandu, and the Buddhist monasteries in Bhutan. My favorite country of the four has to be Bhutan, and its striving to achieve Gross National Happiness, rather than simply increasing its Gross National Product.

This is a terrific program! The comparison and contrasts of the three governments was very interesting. Each mountain kingdom is taking a different path to the future and the advantages & disadvantages of each were evident. I highly recommend this trip.

The breadth and depth of learning about each fascinating country's religion and history exceeded my high expectations.
