The program was educational and fun. I would recommend it highly for those wanting to improve their French and absorb the Canadian culture at the same time. As far a French instruction, it is a real value opportunity.

I have to add my "felicitations" to all the organizers of the French Immersion program at Trois Rivieres. Our instructors were absolutely first-rate. They understand the nuances of the beautiful French language and helped us navigate the pitfalls of French grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. The three different class levels allowed for maximum progress and enjoyment, no matter what our previous experience. I cannot say enough about the wit and vitality and friendliness of the Quebecois people. They are--rightfully--proud of their language and traditions. They value the beauty of their country. They enjoy conversation and sharing of ideas. The immersion program was wonderfully oriented towards helping us experience all of those aspects of Quebecois life and culture. This was my second time there, and I'm ready to go again.

This experience was a wonderful way to improve my ability to communicate in French and "see the world" at the same time. The weekend tours to Quebec City , Montreal, and other areas of interest taught me so much about other cultures. Best of all, the new friends I met during this experience were amazing and will be life-long.

If you want a fabulous trip at a bargain price, go on this program. I just returned from Trois Rivieres and loved every minute of the daily French classes, the afternoon French conversation classes, amazing luxury bus trips to Quebec and Montreal, and excursions to other intriguing places in Quebec Province. The teachers are kind and musically gifted and inspiring..and handsome!. Language labs are beautiful and high tech with lots of assistance. I loved the food and bottomless coffee, tea and water containers that were filled all day long. The university is on a hill not far from the gorgeous Saint Lawrence River. Take advantage of this amazing program. the air there is so fresh, it is quiet, and the shopping is wonderful, too! Go! You will be so glad you did!

The French Immersion program at UQTR is a wonderful, engaging learning experience. It is also full of opportunities to practice French with native speakers while participating in a wide variety of excursions and activities. There are day trips to Montreal and Quebec City, a day at a country spa and many afternoon excursions in beautiful Quebec province. I attended this program three years ago and will return in the future.

I participated in this excellent program last summer. You could not ask for a better value. Accomodation is excellent for singles, because you are in an apartment with three other girls, but each of you has her own room, so you have friendships going on, plus your own space. The teaching aspects are wonderful, as are the field trips. On our trip, we had a little mixup in Quebec City which caused some consternation over the excessive walking. The program was challenging for me because the dorm was downhill from the classroom building, but it didn't kill me to do this walking. Swimming is available, but I did not find time for it. The food was frankly terrible, barely edible, don't know why, as the people serving it are very nice. Many people go year after year. I would be tempted due to the value, but the field trips would be repetitive. Good value, do it once regardless of what level of French knowledge you have.

The best part of this program was meeting a lot of interesting people, both participants and staff. An absolute beginner, I did not learn much French, however. The only way to be successful in the beginner class was to already know French, a conundrum. The living quarters, four bedroom apartments, were clean and well maintained. The buildings are built to keep out cold, however, and the tiny bedroom windows were not up to the hot, sticky weather we experienced for a number of days. (When they say bring a fan, they're not kidding--no AC.) I had envisioned "French immersion" as our being in a closeby community of shopkeepers and restaurants. There was only a mall, a 20-minute walk. The field trips were fun, if only for a change of scenery. Most tours were in French only. A lot of time was spent getting to and from and getting meals in transit for almost 60 people. I think this program has problems. That said, I must tell you that there were lotts of repeat customers. RS could provide better pre-trip info. For instance, I would have liked to know that one can use US dollars, getting Canadian in change. (Do not change money at the airport!)
