This program is extremely informative and covers a great amount of information in a short period of time. There is a pretty high level of activity and walking. The cities covered were beautiful and fascinating and the food overall was excellent, however it may have been better if there was a food option for each meal. The Christmas markets were great and very numerous! Very well planned and orchestrated.

In addition to providing an excellent overview of the Austrian and German Christmas traditions and music, this program wins "best food" in my opinion. This program requires more walking than some participants expected, so I would say the activity level is at the high end of the "active" scale-- I recorded over 4 miles walking each day, including free time. Our leader, David Zottler, was terrific: expert on most topics, very caring about each participant and clearly passionate about his work. Vienna, Salzburg and Munich are beautiful cities and deserve more time than this tour can provide, but you'll get a good feel for the history, culture, food and drink of each area. The Christmas markets are plentiful and varied. Just don't expect to see snow in December.

I thoroughly enjoyed this program. Well run and organized. Makes me want to return to Vienna and spend more time there. The added treat of the symphony members who provided information and music was so special. Salzburg was beautiful! I would recommend this program (and may do it again!).

This is an outstanding trip, adding a new perspective to history and culture, and a new perspective to the Holiday/Christmas season. The food also was fantastic.

We enjoyed this trip so much we immediately registered for another Road Scholar trip. True- the hotels were not splendid, but that is not what we wanted. They were clean and well located. Our tour guides were outstanding- David, Balazs and Irmegard were wonderful as were the local guides in each city. They were friendly, helpful and informative! We enjoyed using the Metro. It was an economical way to get around and gave us the freedom to travel on our own during unscheduled periods. We would highly recommend this trip.
