I would recommend this experience to anyone that loves bicycling and wants to see beautiful German and Austrian countryside.

Just finished this program on June 10, 2015 with Heinz as our guide. An excellent, experienced tour leader, and very knowledgeable about the areas we visited. A very good organizer. I soon was able to enjoy his Herr Commandant approach to leadership. Like the German railroads, he kept us On Time!! The trip was not too strenuous for a 73 yr old guy with some strength and stamina issues. I may have been near the end of our group of 19 bikers, but no one seemed to criticize my slowness. I gave them an excuse for riding a little slower themselves. I was worried about those slightly strange 7 speed bikes with a 'ladies cut'. They were fine, and seven gears seemed to work just fine. I was also surprised that NO Europeans use a mirror on bike or helmet and that no one used foot clips, toe baskets, nor a speedometer/buke computer, the biking seemed to go just fine. Having some neck problems, I appreciated that IBT allowed me to use a helmet mounted mirror, rather reluctantly, I think. This earned me some surprised looks from European cyclists.r

We enjoyed the bicycle trip along the Danube. The hotels were good. The daily bike rides were very interesting and scenic, showing both the beauty and industrial importance of the Danube. The leaders Achim and Hank were very good. The lecturers were very well qualified, and we learned a lot about the history, culture and economy of the Danube. All in all it was an enjoyable experience. Great program. Good mix of riding, lectures, museums, city walks plus a "little" free time. The trails were flat with a downhill grade. Not too strenuous with enough breaks. The scenery was fantastic, like riding through a post card.

Biking the Danube is a wonderful program. Lectures included information on architecture, art, WW II, the EU countries and economy, customs and holidays, and much more. From experiencing the sadness of Mauthausen to seeing the frivolity of Vienna, it was rewarding and eye-opening on many levels. The biking was relaxing and the country-side beautiful. What a great experience!

This program was excellent for anyone who wants to combine physical activity with learning. The other participants were in great shape and this made for an enjoyable experience.
