This program lived up to its description in every way. In each of the four imperial cities, prearranged concerts as well as visits to art galleries, libraries, and museums were most enjoyable. Quite a few lunches or dinners in a variety of restaurants as well as dinner cruises in Budapest and Prague enhanced our experience in each of the unique cultures.

The Central European Tour of the 4 Imperial Cities is a superb overview and introduction to cities and countries Americans tend to know little or nothing about, but should know more since their histories affect everyone in the present day.

There could not be a better way to learn about the history and culture of the world, have irreplaceable experiences, meet new friends, and have a great time.

As a single, could never have navigated on my own such a jam-packed, well-planned visit to four beautiful cities with sublime art, architecture and music. Terrific guides, good accommodations and excellent food. What a great value!

We just returned from the Treasures of Imperial Cities: Krakow, Budapest, Vienna & Prague and loved it. Be warned, however, that this is a high energy expedition that requires a lot of stamina. I highly recommend flying in a day early to get rested up beforehand.

This was a first Road Scholar experience. Our group was large and often broke into two groups for lectures. I very much appreciated the expertise and passion of the guides/performances in each city as well as Robert's patience and professionalism dealing with a large group.Having hotels, locations, logistics planned out in cities where English is not used made the experience so much more enjoyable. As others have stated, a consistent 4 star hotel experience would improve the trip. Some of the hotel meals were at cafeteria level and special evening meals were uneven, some very nice, others not. Especially liked was lunch in Vienna. Also, one evening boat trip is sufficient, my preference being for the one in Budapest over the one in Prague. Likewise, one folk dance experience would be sufficient. It would be nice at the end of each of the planned city experiences if there were more free time to experience places/interests not included in the planned itinerary. Perhaps this would require not so many cities. Another pleasure from using Road Scholar is that Road Scholar seems to attract attendees who have lived/are living varied, interesting lives.

So easy to travel with road scholar... enjoyed the trip ... met wonderful people..but would love hotels to be more in the thick of things, ... also would love to have choices when dining...why not have buffets or serve family style.... and the Budapest hotel was just not acceptable... Warsaw and Vienna guides and concerts were excellent but tgur guides in Budapest and Prague were wanting.... music lecture in Prague a disaster... this was my first tour and I will give road scholar another chance because there was more positive than negative but I will pay more attention to hotel choices...

This was our first Road Scholar experience. We loved the musical and cultural components of this trip. We especially liked the pianist in Krakow, the chamber ensemble in Vienna and the musical lecture featuring flutists, and the music museum in Prague. Unfortunately, the size of our group (34) continually slowed our progress. At times, the group was divided into two parts, with two guides, effectively reducing the ratio to 17:1. This was really helpful. However, there were several times when we visited museums with smaller rooms. A portion of the group was not able to fit into the room, so we could hear the guide but not see what was being described. Moving from one location to another took a long time due to the number of people involved. Overall, a very good vacation. We'll have to consider whether we'd join another tour with large groups in the future.

This was my first Road Scholar trip; it would have been my last one if I had not been assured by others that RS trips are normally better run. The guides in Krakow and Vienna were excellent. The guide in Budapest was fairly good. The one in Prague was poor. I felt that we spent too much time either traveling or waiting. The record heat in all of these cities only made this situation more uncomfortable. The lectures were usually good. The music program in Prague was really very poorly organized and most of the participants left early. This tour was too ambitious: four cities in 16 days left me wishing I had travelled to only one or two of them to get a real taste of what each offered.

The Program was very enjoyable, but we felt that one night less in Budapest and one more in Vienna would be appreciated. We also thought all the hotels should have been 4 star. The music programs were exceptional as was the Fine Arts Habsburg Museum in Vienna. June 5-21 2013 program

Road Scholar generally lives up to its purpose of providing interesting and rewarding programs. One caveat...avoid large programs if you are visiting several countries.
