ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The West End Theater Tour is a chance of a life-time. Road Scholar takes care of your practical needs with aplomb: transport to and from airport and the tour venues, most meals, and accommodations. Remember the purpose of the trip is to learn about the theater: its playwrights, actors and acting, play genres, and its history. Our teachers included a lively professor of British theater, a theater critic/journalist, and our guide whom I call, Mr. London, due to his passion for and knoweldge of the city. On top of seeing five plays, our trip included the Tate Modern, the British Museum, a hands-on workshop at RADA,( where the group came alive),free afternoons to gaze at London's architecture, walk the parks, and stroll through Selfridges or Harrods, dine together in the hotel, or go off and order fish and chips in a local pub. I would do it again.

The tour leader and technical assistant were outstanding. The selection of hotel was adequate. However, the selection of plays was unfortunate to say the least. Mostly new productions of questionable quality. Need more musicals, which the West End is famous for, and a good English farce is always a welcome input. More musical presentations would also be welcome. The program has great potential provided the plays are upgraded and significantly improved.

A wonderful immersion in London theatre. Lectures, tours, and performances all connect the historical and current-day theatre scene; an eclectic choice of shows highlight the range available on the London stage.

I recently commented on our leader Geoff and our lecturer Malcolm Jones, but I forgot to mention Andrew Jarvis who talked to us and was fascinating. So great a speaker was he that Robin and I went to see him in THARK! He is everything an actor should be! Peggy McCall

The offerings of plays ranged from Shakespeare to musical to modern drama. A variety of educational experiences (e.g., tours of theatres, lectures, workshop) were scheduled and in each case the guide/leader was excellent. All of the lectures were interesting and informative. Wonderful to have a musical program, especially at Wigmore Hall, included. As so often happens the conversations among participants enhanced the experience.

This was a terrific program for anyone who loves the theater. Adding two museums made it even better. Having real actors speak with us was a plus- some of us even went to see one of the lecturers who was performing ina local play. Accomodations right next to un underground station made getting about very easy. All in all, an A plus experience. I plan to repeat it.
