While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a more flexible schedule with ample independent time and several meals on your own, then our FLEX learning adventures are made for you.

I would encourage any RS participant to consider this program. It was wonderful, and Jenny did an excellent job in leading us to see, appreciate, and absorb the life and history of St. Paul. I am very glad that I added this program to my one in Minneapolis. Both were excellent.

This was my first visit to Saint Paul. Kathy, our leader, was a wonderful Hostess. I learned a great deal about the area and returned home feeling like an almost Saint Paul native.

My husband and I like to visit cities to which we have never been. St. Paul was one of those cities. This program was a great introduction to the downtown of St. Paul. The program is heavy on history and architecture. All of our docents were excellent and enthusiatic.

Kathy Fischer was one of the best group leaders I have had for a Road Scholar program. She is very enthusiastic about St. Paul and her knowledge of the city added to the program.

On our last morning, we had a meeting with Nancy Homans, Policy Director for the mayor. We had a great dicussion about city planning and what St. Paul has accomplished in the capital and river front areas and what they hope to accomplish in the future.

The accomadations at the Crowne Plaza were quite nice. We had a lovely river view. You can cross the street in front of the hotel and you are on the river.

Program was extremely well-organized, with Kathy, our leader, available to the group at all times. The course allowed access to some of the significant historical, architectural, and educational sites of St. Paul. We got a fine behind-the-scenes view of the Historical Museum collection, for example, and an excellent introduction to the St. Paul downtown. There were two scheduled activities I was initially lukewarm on, and they turned out to be program high points for me: A re-enactor portrayed "Edna the Kissing Bandit" from St. Pauls 1920's history, and provided a wonderful and hilarious introduction to some of the shadier aspects of the city's development. Then, on the last morning of the program, we had a great meeting with an aide in the mayor's office, which turned out to be an enlightening (and admirably non-defensive) discussion of big-city governance and some of the issues facing St. Paul through the years. The Crowne Plaza Hotel was comfortable and convenient; meals there and elsewhere were quite adequate, with the hotel-supplied breakfast a meal I always looked forward to. I highly recommend this program.

The program was well done. We had a great leader. Jo Fitzpatrick
