For a first time trip to New England, I thought this program covered an incredible amount. It presented a nice balance between the maritime, historical, and rural aspects of New England life. Everything exceeded my expectations, from the lodging and food to the learning experiences. And Betsy Bates was fantastic! I would love to go on another trip with her; she is so welcoming, knowledgeable and fun!

Great program. However, a couple of things come into play. We had a GREAT LEADER, it would not have been, I believe, with all instructors. Greater effort should be made to integrate class in mutual activities. Most of us had no idea what others did in their previous "life". Leader said we shouldn't ask!! It did not used to be this way. Privacy,,blah, blah! Tell Betsy Bates I'm still not happy to have not seen a "stinkin'" moose!!

A wonderful trip! If you've longed to see New England in it's autumnal dress, as I have, take this trip. No guarantees you'll see a 'peak' of colors - that's all timing - but you will see colors and learn a lot. We explored Portland through food, visited interesting farms, and learned about lobsters all the while eating our way through the country. If it eventually includes a stop at Ben and Jerry's it'll be the perfect tour but it's darn nice now.

I really enjoyed this trip! The leaves were beautiful, and the other experiences were varied and interesting. Our leader, Betsy, could not have been better, and the bus driver Pierre also enhanced the experience. We were so lucky with the weather, too. This program met and exceeded all my hopes for it.

Outstanding! The bus rides from place to place were full of fall color punctuated with stops featuring local history, folklore, specialties, crafts. I was completely surprised by the number of fascinating specialty farms whose owners and operators exuded enthusiasm for their expertise. In addition, I got a new perspectve on the meaning of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Gail was an excellent guide and Peggy, our driver, was delightful. I want to go back and revisit many of those places!

This long awaited trip greatly exceeded our expectations. We found it to be delightful in every way possible, from our wonderfully talented group leader, Betsy, to the delectable food, to the lovely & comfortable historic hotels, to the awe-inspiring sights of the ocean and the remarkable, colorful beauty of the New England fall leaves. We learned a great deal about the people and places of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. It was a great value, with interesting, good -hearted people...truly a trip not to be missed!

This is an amazing program. It includes a wide variety of activities that make it worthwhile, even if the fall foliage is not at it's best. Our tour leader was wonderful and we made a lot of new friends.

This was a well planned and delightful trip. The destinations and the presenters were all great. Who knew there was so much to building a dry wall! Our leader, Nancy, was outstanding and knew so many people we couldn't believe it. The final night dinner was at a great country inn with delicious food.

I just finished my first Road Scholar trip -- On the Road: The Best Fall Foliage in New England -- and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a great combination of great views, history of the areas, educational programs, food and new friends. Our leader was wonderful and had personal knowledge of the areas we traveled to and shared some personal anecdotes as well.
