Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The trip to Myanmar was superb, and I would rate it a 10 on a 10-point scale. Our Burmese guide was excellent and 3 of the 4 lecturers were quite good. We learned a lot and had fun, too. Myanmar is an amazing country in transition economically, politically, and socially, and it was exciting and intellectually stimulating to be able to see it now with a great guide and interesting traveling companions.

We have just returned from this trip and conside it to be the trip of a lifetime! It is not an easy or leisurely trip, but oh, the sights and experiences are wonderful! Tourism is not as well developed as it will be soon, and that factor adds to the charm. Thanks to Road Scholar for giving us on the ground experiences as well as excellent information on this venture.

I was very disappointed in the trip. I felt that we spent far too much time looking at temples and Buddahs, rather than being with locals and seeing markets, museums, and crafts. The lectures were generally disappointing. Also we changed hotels twice in two cities. Not what I have experienced or expected from Road Scholar.

We really enjoyed this trip. It's hard to go as a tourist to a country where so many of the people are so poor, but I do believe what our presenters and others said: come, don't let us be cut off any more. The role that religion seems to play in everyone's everyday life made me think of the Age of Faith in Western history, and how this should not only be history anywhere. This was a wonderful trip with a lovely and interesting tour leader (Kinh Kinh, thank you!) to a country with a long and distinguished history and now a hopeful future. A great group to travel with, well organized tour, amazing things to see and people to talk to. Go Road Scholar!

Our Myanmar: Burma trip revealed up close a country that is mostly rural, yet urbanizing before our eyes. Travel on long boats, river barges, horse carriages and jeeps, as well as on foot and by luxury buses provided a variety of vantage points. The food was wonderful - fresh and approachable, often served in the lantern-lighted outdoors. Lecturers were candid, trying to help us understand the juxtapositions of old and new. Our guide's spontaneity allowed us to enjoy the unexpected: a children's initiation parade, big Chinese wedding, flower market and sunsets. The people were welcoming and generous in sharing their crafts. Few could resist bringing home longis (long skirts worn by virtually all men and women) woven on site, jewelry or art. Weather was dry and not too hot. While pools awaited, we only sat around them for drinks as the evenings cooled. I can highly recommend this trip to all fit adventurers.

Fab trip, Burma is brown in Jan. Should have travelled closer to rainy season. Still this does not take anything away from the trip and the country. Everyone should be as lucky to be able to go, especially before the tourist rush hits.

Myanmar: A unique experience to travel through a beautiful country, which is going through a complex political and economic transition...before our eyes.

We believe the Road Scholar trip to Myanmar is best appreciated by people who have traveled extensively and can make comparisons with other places they have visited. A must for anyone interested in Southeast Asia and South Asia.
