See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was as an extraordinarily interesting and fun experience I could imagine. Such a magnificently beautiful river that could best be fully appreciated by having the 6 days we were on it. Such a delightful adventure. We were so well fed and taken care of. Perfect.

You probably can get a good idea of Lewis & Clark's accomplishments by reading their accounts and a few books. Actually getting on the river they traveled with an accomplished historian on for even a few days will greatly deepen that appreciation.

James from Springfield, OH Number of programs attended: 10
Date attended: 07/15/13 - 07/22/13
. This was undoubtedly the most satisfying elderhostel program I have ever taken part in (also, physically the most challenging). . The quality of services provided by Mike and Meredith Gregson of MRO was outstanding. Their hard working staff guides were a delight to travel with, and they spared no effort to make the trip pleasant for each one of us. . If you are into Lewis and Clark, or if you like to explore remote and beautiful landscapes, or if you want to learn more about early western life & history, or if you love the peace of paddling on a wilderness river far from signs of civilization, or if you love birds and wildlife (I won't tell you which large ovine mammals I saw, or you would be jealous) this is the trip for you. If you're excited by several or all of these categories, this will be the trip of a lifetime.
