Unlike many who visit NZ, I left feeling that I really saw all of the country and more than the typical tourist stops. Provides in depth knowledge and experience of NZ history, culture, flora, fauna, and social systems. Going to Steward Island is a highlight! Each day offered a new adventure.

The South Island portion was particularly good because of the outstanding local guide, Chas Morris. He was very well organized with detailed handouts of the daily schedule (and a pocket version of the times)as well as fascinating stories of his experiences farming (sheep, cows and deer), deep sea diving and living through the Christchurch earthquake. He has a great knowledge of the countryside and the country. We came early to recover from jet-lag. The Auckland hotel is very close to the waterfront and we enjoyed going by ferry to nearby Devonport (a seaside suburb) and to the volcanic island Rangitoto.

The tour is well thought out, a good overview of the entire country and well coordinated in movement from town to town or to daily field trip. You will be very happy with group leaders and their knowledge.

Wonderful program! It was well worth the amount of time and the frequent shuttling between hotels. I really liked the amount of time in the countryside.

An excellent opportunity to explore the culture, geology, and wildlife of this beautiful country and mingle with the welcoming New Zealanders in the process. While it's impossible to absorb an entire country in 4 weeks, this tour comes as close as possible.

A wonderful trip. Very good value for the money considering the prices in New Zealand. Great lecturers and group leaders. Overall very good accommodations and meals. You never go hungry on a Road Scholar trip. It's a long trip, but the time is needed to see the variations and wonderful sights of the land. Many boat tours, 3 winery visits, a hangi (luau), a short hike to Franz Josef Glacier and many, many more activities. A chance to get close to the country and culture of the North and South Islands. Seeing both islands is a must as they are distinctly different geologically. Both islands offer a unique experience.

This program is extremely comprehensive with great variety and was a fantastic experience!

The Geysers & Greenstones program is a must for those who can afford the time and expense. We now agree that it takes at least 4 weeks to "do" New Zealand. We loved the friendly people and were challenged by the geography and geology.

I enjoyed the friendly Kiwis and their beautiful land. This was my first Road Scholar experience and the trip of a lifetime.
