Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world. It has everything: a beautiful scenery, rich history, extraordinary culture, hard-working and proud people. Our very knowledgeable and enthusiastic group leader, Freddy, has helped to make this trip a truly memorable experience.

Colombia is a country well worth visiting! Road Scholar's Program was well planned and executed. The guides were exceptional, and the sights visited were diverse and interesting. I look forward to going back and visiting other cities, sights, and other geograohic regions.

Learn about aspects of life in Colombia that will open you up to what you may never had known before.

Tour leader Freddy Ruiz was fantastically helpful and attentive. Local guide Omar Betancourt was especially good, and the others were fine. Colombia is every bit as beautiful as people say. There was a good mix of city and country, and we learned a lot from each day's sessions. The visit to the coffee plantation was particularly enlightening with regard to world-wide coffee production and marketing. Food and drink were fine, but Colombian food can be somewhat under-seasoned. The group was compatible and of reasonable size (20). Larry and Paula Jacobson traveled to Colombia, SA 12/4-12/16/14. We signed up early and monitored the situation in SA for 6 mos. through the State Department's travel warnings. We are so happy we went. It is a kind, gentle and very beautiful country with lots of interest. Safety was a non issue. Our Guide, Andres Cubilloz, was a delight who too excellent care of us. The program should be tweaked a bit with a possible replacement of the first lecturer in Bogota and a hotel change in Manizales. Otherwise, the program flowed and was exciting and different every day. Water and salads should not be consumed as in other 2d world countries but the food was good, sometimes too abundant. The hotels and restaurants were willing to make changes especially to native/indigenous meals. There should have been more of them (beans and rice were delicious). I would return...it is manageable on your own to the big cities but why not travel with a group and enjoy the other travelers. We had many to admire on our tour.

Colombia has been a dangerous place for so long that we hesitated before taking this tour. We learned that the parts of the country that we visited are as safe as anywhere else in Latin America, and we were delighted with our interactions with Colombians, who were uniformly welcoming and gracious.

Excellent program reveals interesting cities and beautiful countryside of a misunderstood country. Top museums in Bogota, historic sights in Cartagena, modern urban development in Medellin, and above all, Botero artworks should not be missed!

Take this trip to Colombia! You will be impressed with how modern, interesting and safe the country is!
