ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Ray and Robert have said it all. I learned a lot, had great fun, and am now determined to return to the square-dancing in which I have not participated in over 30 years. Old Bob.

If you want to spend a week at home, yet be made to feel at home, this Kentucky trip is for you. The entire week was quite enjoyable, with presentations sprinkled with humor; music with hands-on opportunities (mostly the dulcimer); crafts (again with time for hands-on experience); and we can't forget about the square dancing and line dancing lessons. Starting out with absolutely no square dance knowledge, the instructor (Charlie) guided us during the week to a point where we initially thought we couldn't be. Don't miss Anne with her musical knowledge, and talent. Very versatile. The husband and wife team (John and Lelana) added their presentations, showing a lot of knowledge and including a great deal of humor. All of this helped us appreciate the history of Kentucky, and be more aware of issues confronting the state today. The staff mingles with the participants for added enjoyment and camaraderie. Mother nature provides a colorful backdrop, as the tree leaves were well on their way to exhibiting their fall colors. If you want a laid-back, hands-on week (yet with the ability to learn), this program is for you.

If you are looking for an "off the grid," peaceful experience with a chance to soak up Kentucky culture at the hands of KY resident experts, buoyed by excellent food and comfortable accommodations, choose this. Great value for the money if you can stand to be away from the hubbub of the "outside" world---hint---your cellphone may not always work in Jabez, but who cares. As the question from an airline commercial goes, "Need to get away?" Then choose this unique KY experience given by presenters who are knowledgeable and entertaining while allowing for your own participation to whatever level of adventure and fun you like. Learn to do some of the country dances, play the folk instruments, live in an area 16 miles removed from the main highway---it may not be for everyone, but I found it to be restorative and delightful at the same time!!! Money and time well spent for me personally.

The program was exceptionally good and great value for the price. It included a variety of things to do and was the right balance of lectures, hands on, and a field trip. The accommodations were very nice and the food excellent. I liked the fact that we didn't have to walk a long ways to he cafeteria because at the last program we did and I was having trouble walking. I would like to go back to another program at this location.

The program was great value for the money. The facilities were excellent and all contained without a lot of walking. Food was very good. The leaders of the group did everything possible for us to have a great week. There was a variety of experiences such as learning to play the dulcimer and square dancing. There was entertainment one evening with a group that was very good with guitar, fiddle, and banjo. I would highly recommend this program and would like to go back for another one in the spring.

I would be delighted to talk with anyone about the event for them to decide if they had an interest in the event.
