ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

If you love history and beautiful sights, this is the trip for you. Visits to FDR's home and library, Eleanor's home, Washington's headquarters, and cruising the Hudson are just some of the wonderful parts of the trip. The lecturers really knew their subject and imparted their knowledge through their talks. There was so much to do, it will take time to remember it and absorb it. Thanks you for a great time.

The Hudson River Valley is packed with history and beautiful at this time of year. I really don't think this trip could have been any better. Best of all I met so many great people and enjoyed getting to know them personally. I was delighted at how much we all seemed to have in common.

You need to add to the web site a "RS Business Card Request" so that RSers like me can request a dozen cards for handing out to interested people we meet.

As far as Bucket Lists go, the Hudson River Valley was not anywhere near the top, but someone we loved wanted to go there. We researched the area and the more we looked, the more confusing it became. Finally we discovered Road Scholar and the rest was easy. This tour was well organized and the lodging in the Middle Hudson area was much better than anticipated. The meals were excellent and offered a wide variety of food to choose from. They also offered activities to appeal to many of us. It would be hard to pick my favorite tour, they were all excellent. The Rondout needs to be more operational before returning, although the Maritime Museum was good. Lectures were wonderful and fun. We enjoyed the group we were with so much. Sally (tour director)and Rusty (bus driver) were incredible and so knowledgeable about the area, with lots of back stories. Needless to say, I am suggesting to everyone that The Hudson River Valley be at the top of their Bucket Lists!

Overall, this was a very good program that met our expectations and we were pleased. PROS: knowledge gained about Hudson River Valley; excellent lectures; pleasant group of people; lots of good food CONS: group was a bit large (broke into smaller groups to view sites, but large group of 40 did mean that we took longer at places and missed a couple of things -- not a major issue); facility was well located, but it is meant for families with kids and there were loads of kids and lots of noise on Sun/Mon (it did get better Tues-Thur)

As I happily discovered, the Hudson River Valley is STUNNING in the fall. I loved that we were shown so much of it and that we saw such interesting historical sites such as Valkill, Eleanor Roosevelt's home and many other places.

Our first Road Scholar trip and the best tour of 3 we've taken with other groups. The leader was delightful and participants all friendly and cooperative. The ranch was primarily focused on families, but we were so busy visiting and learning that we didn't use the facility except to eat (very good meals)and sleep. The school bus was a little tight on leg room but the bus driver made up for it with his cheerful disposition, safe driving, and attention to our handicapped participants.
