With Pete Bengeyfield as your instructor and his wife, Alice, as your cohost, you can be confident that a Road Scholar visit to Yellowstone will be time and money well spent, both in terms of knowledge gained about the ecosystems in the park and the friendly and thoughtful manner in which the tour is conducted. From his advanced education in hydrology, his many years of employment with the National Forest Park Service and application of his talent as a professional photographer, Pete shares a wealth of information about the interrelationships of geological, vegetative and animal components that are critical to the well-being of Yellowstone. Pete and Alice have only recently rejoined Road Scholar after taking five years to travel extensively to do research for his next photo journal publication, this time on the coastal communities of the east and west coasts of the United States, as well as Alaska and Hawaii. Now that they are back, you won't find a better way to get acquainted with Yellowstone.

Loved the geology focus in such a fascinating landscape, and how the educators demonstrated how the geology affects the ecology and wildlife. We were lucky to have fantastic weather, and saw lots of animals, gorgeous scenery and awesome geological features.

I thoroughly enjoyed Yellowstone with Jim Garry and Mary Carparelli. Anyone who is lucky enough to get either of these two as their instructor and leader will go away with great appreciation for Yellowstone. And I must not forget Charlie from Oklahoma who was Mary's assistant but was just as knowledgable as Jim and Mary. The program is just right in physical activity. It is a great value for anyone who wants to experience our first national park.

This was an amazing experience with knowledgeable and interesting instructors! The entire program was well planned and organized and delivered much more than expected. I highly recommend Road Scholar without reservation to anyone who loves to travel and look for new adventures.

Our trip leaders, Gene and Roy, were outstanding and were both walking encyclopedias of information about the park. Yellowstone is an incredibly beautiful place, the animals are wonderful to behold, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The only down side was the quality of the food, but considering the remote location, that is understandable. I heartily recommend this trip.

The Caldera program was a wonderful experience. Try it out for yourselves as I do not have the words to tell of this glorious part of the earth. You will come away inspired and educated. Many thanks to Roads Scholars for organizing such a terrific program.

"The Great Caldera" program is an excellent introduction to Yellowstone Park. It's just the right pace for people: lectures to prepare for the field and field trips that are not too strenuous. Instructor was a gem.

I attended the June 8, 2014 group of Yellowstone: The Great Caldera with leaders Gene Ball and Jim Garry. The leaders gave out great information on history, stories, and science every step of the way. My group was the "active" level and also in the group was one that was more active. This gave flexibility to everyone and each group could share with the other what they learned on their walk. I could not imagine a richer experience. And the time of year was perfect. Lots of young wildlife with mothers, green grass and wildflowers. I'm so glad I attended. Carol Woods, Arcata, California
