This was a nearly perfect experience. This was the best organized program of the twenty-five that I have attended during the past eighteen years. I plan to recommend it to my friends and relatives and encourage them to attend in order to see all of the wonderful places on and around the Upper Mississippi. Thank you to Diane and her team of people who made it possible.

I thoroughly enjoyed this program and there are so many positive things to comment on. The program is in an interesting and beautiful area; there is much to learn, it was fun and informative to travel through four states and the boat excursions were a big highlight, especially our day on the Twilight Riverboat. The river towns we visited were charming and full of character. Our tour leader Diane was excellent in every way and I appreciated her enthusiasm and hard work. Her organizational skills are quite amazing. The lodging was always nice, especially the historic, beautiful hotel in Dubuque. The food was very good and provided a nice variety. Our last meal was one of the best dinners I have had this year. I really enjoyed all the learning on the bus. We watched interesting videos, were given handouts and provided mini lectures. We even played a game of Jeopardy. The bus was comfortable and our bus driver, Mike was the best bus driver I have ever seen. I was impressed at how smoothly our leader Diane and co-leader Tom handled every aspect of the trip so there was little waiting or disruption. I gained a new appreciation for this part of the country and the mighty Mississippi River. Some things such as clamming, I had never heard about prior to the trip. I would highly recommend this trip, it is a winner!

The program took me to a part of our county I had never seen. I was able to see what other folks had to deal with in their day to day lives which was very different from my life experience. In most cases their lives were much slower than mine and allowed them time to smell the Roses.

Linda from Bedford, Pa. Programs attended: 46 Date attended: 8/17/14-8/23/14 What a fabulous trip. We learned about the Mississippi, eagles, buttons from clams, fish, barges and boats. Every minute was full and fun. Our director, Diane Van Wyngardner, was superb in every way. We had the best accommodations, wonderful meals, and a flowing knowledge of the midwest instilled into our minds. The review asks us to tell some way this program could be improved. Neither my husband nor I could think of any. Keep up the great work!

If you want a fun-filled program that will open your eyes to the world of the Midwest and the Mississippi River's role in the American economy, this trip is for you. From an up close and personal experience with a bald eagle to great cuisine and banjo music while floating down the Mississippi in a replica paddle wheeler, to an amazing multimedia presentation at Minneapolis's Mill Museum - the entire program was a delight.

The Upper Mississippi program was one of the best we have been on. The reasons for this are varied....it is a great subject and there are many things to see and do, but the most important reason for its success is the Group Leader, Diane. Not only is she knowledgable about "the River", but she adds all kinds of extra things in which take the program a notch higher than most. We would highly suggest this program to everyone.

Rita from Minnetonka, MN Number of programs attended: 2

The upper Mississippi cruise was terrific, a true travel adventure. The beauty of the river, the eagles, the pelicans. the musicians who set the mood and lifted spirits. As a result, more river trips are in my future! Above all, the camaraderie of Road Scholar travelers lifts me up. Good people all around.

This was an outstanding program that was led by a great coordinator Diane Van Wyngarden. We had 3 varied trips on the Mississippi, visited several very interesting museums, stayed in nice hotels & had a variety of good food. All in all, one of the best Road Scholar programs I have participated in the 30+ I have attended over the past 14 years.
