Love sailing? Love Maine? Love lobster? Then this is the trip for you. Excellent food, lots of sailing, and you can help on deck or just relax and take in Maine's most beautiful scenery! An excellent sailor, Captain Dennis takes you everywhere that the wind will allow.

Lovely trip with a terrific crew, interesting people, fabulous scenery and a beautiful boat. While the quarters were tight, we still slept pretty well though I think the trip must be really phenomenal when the weather is warmer. The chef was not only talented but very accommodating. I would highly recommend the Angelique and it's crew.

I found the trip to be relaxing with the staff on the vessel fantastic every one. The views are spectacular- food beyond belief. The vessel unique. Sleeping quarters a bit tight but manageable. Meals were exquisite!! Quite a nice adventure! The captain is a great personality!

If the romance of sailing draws you to Maine I know you will find the Angelique under Captain Dennis Gallant a dream fulfilled. This program is in my "top ten" vacations experiences.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable cruise, but not in the same sense that one experiences on the seagoing hotel of a cruise liner. You are on the ocean...close enough to taste it and with the wind always in your hair. Though the Angelique is crewed by real sailors, guests are welcome to help raise the sails, to steer the vessel, and to learn as much about the sea as is possible in the time available. Food is great and sleeping and "head" accommodations are as good as could be expected on such a ship.

My experience on Angelique was simply delightful. Learning about sailing was a new experience for me and the captain and crew made it most enjoyable. We were treated to enthusiastic lectures and hands-on experiences, as well as delicious meals. The captain and all the crew made us feel welcome and valued.

A great activity to share with my husband, but bunk beds and a serious lack of privacy meant that hanky-panky was out of the question!

Although I had never sailed before on such a beautiful ship, I was very excited for my trip to celebrate retirement. The Angelique more than fulfilled my expectations!. The captain and his crew were kind, patient, and very willing to share their knowledge. The naturalist and the veterinarian added so much education about the coast of Maine. The added pleasure and surprise was the food. It was exceptional! Hoppy created wonderful meals! I would recommend this trip to anyone!! Thank you to the entire crew!!! Kay from Columbus, Ohio

Having never sailed before, we very much enjoyed our trip on the Angelique. Captain Dennis and his crew were so competent and fun to be with. The scenery was beautiful, even during the day of heavy rain. Our food was wonderful because the chef was so creative. (He actually shelled a cooked lobster in seconds with his bare hands!) Our naturalist Carissa and our historian Bud added so much to our understanding of the Maine coast and its wildlife. This has been our favorite Road Scholar trip.

If you want to have an amazing experience sail the coast of Maine on the "Angelique". Captain and crew are just wonderful and always wilingl to teach you about sailing. You not only learning about sailing, but also about the Maine Coast from and Historian on board. A naturalist teaches you about the marine life along the coast of Maine. This will be an experience you will never forget.

An interesting and different way to travel.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would tell anyone who is excited about adventure travel to do it. Bring lots of baby wipes instead of using the shower. Bring ear plugs for sleeping. All was exactly as advertised and I had the time of my life. I was well rested, extremely well fed and learned a great deal.

Sailing Penobscot Bay This trip was wonderful in every way. The Angelique is beautiful and in excellent condition. The captain is calm, VERY capable, and personable. The crew was young, skilled, strong, friendly, and informative. The adventure is weather-dependent, and we had beautiful weather, with the exception of a squall on the first day, which actually showed off the stability of the boat, and the skill of the captain and crew. Most of the time we spent relaxing on deck, watching beautiful Penobscot Bay and its many islands. We were lucky enough to sail at the full moon, with dramatic sunsets/moonrises, and extreme tides. We rowed from the boat to an island every day for exercise and sight-seeing. Our group of >20 passengers included solo couples, couples traveling together, singles, and groups of friends traveling together. Our expedition socialized extensively across groups, but apparently this isn’t always the case. The food was excellent, with meals served family style, including fresh-baked bread and desserts. Fruit was available all the time. Snacks were provided before dinner – wines, sodas, and cocktails were the responsibility of the passengers. Some people shared. The history lectures were interesting, especially those that dealt with island culture. We had a chance to tour Castine, the site of the second worst naval defeat in US history. Unfortunately, our naturalist was unable to make it. However, the crew filled in with interesting stories about the boat. The cabins are small – it’s a ship! By following the instructions of packing light and bringing a gym bag, it was completely workable. Hot water is available for quick showers, and the heads worked well. I would bring TEVAs next time. Warm clothing is important. Umbrellas are pretty useless in a squall. All in all, this is a unique experience, impossible to replicate on your own. Captain Mike and his wife Lynn provide a warm welcome and an unforgettable experience. Karen H.

The waters were clear, the wind was blowing and the sailing was all that I hoped it would be. Captain Mike, James, Joe and the rest of the crew made me feel like a was a real part of the sailing experience and I'll always remember the great time I had on the Angelique!

Sailing on the Angelique from Camden ME is so interesting. You will enjoy watching the buildings on shore as you sail by, but don't expect much wild life. Captain Mike and his staff on this Windjammer are an outstanding team.
