While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

The Great Allegheny Passage bicycle trip is a delightful experience. Since the trail follows the line of a former rairoad, the climbs are never too strenuous, but all along the journey one encounters magnificent vistas, from beautiful mountain landscape to tunnels and high viaducts. The guides could not have been more helpful and supportive and the accommodations were very good. I strongly reommend this trip to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and moderate physical activity.

The GAP was selected as one of two of National Geographic's Top Ten fall Destinations and this program showcases why. Three days of biking on the trail, a float trip on the river, and very comfortable accommodations at the Laurelville Mennonite Center with outstanding leadership and direction makes for a great holiday in western Pennsylvania. This is one trip I would do again.

This is a great program. Very challenging as the 8 mph average speed listed in the brochure was exceeded by more of an 11 to 12 average speed. It pushed me and that was good. Highly recommend if you love cycling as the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) is lovely in the fall and is a great asset to this area.

I took part in this program in Sept 09 with a friend, and this time my husband and I joined the fun. It was definitely worth doing for a second time! The staff at the conference center are exceedingly helpful, organized, and pleasant. The accommodations are not fancy but very comfortable and clean. It is also nice to have a sitting area and small kitchen facility in the same building as the sleeping rooms. The food was adequate and better than when I was there before. The lunches, delivered to us at a midway point on the day's ride, were exceptional! We had two marvelous guides who rode with our group, one at the lead and one following behind. We were basically able to ride at our own pace, and the leaders accommodated a lot of variance in riders' speeds. In addition, the bus met us at least 3 times each day, and participants could choose to ride in the bus for a portion of the day. The scenery is beautiful and the trail includes several tunnels and bridges. As with all Road Scholar trips, getting to know the other participants is the best part of the program! If you would like more information, please email me at emknesper@gmail.com. I have posted a few of the trip pictures (together with pictures from other RS/EH trips that we have done) at http://eknesper.kodakgallery.com/
